Question: eeeBOX out of wireless range: options?

I was using my eeeBox in my workshop using its until I had to move our wireless router closer to other devices, and now I my WiFi signal is too weak to get to the shop. I was thinking about splitting into the coax which supplies our cable modem, and spooling that out to the shop. In other words, I want cable coax input > device x > LAN output > eeeBox. Is there a simple and cheap 'device x' ? Do I need another cable modem? I've tried the Linksys wireless range expander, and it didn't work and hosed my wireless setting beyond repair, so I'm not inclined to try that again, unless it's not from Linksys.
