An Okay Game, But Then Again, I Didn't Get Very Far

Summary: I bought this game because of the amazing reviews I saw. I'm not going to say the game was terrible, nor am I going to say it was great. I feel I might have gotten my hopes up too high and then they crashed when I got to finally play the game. To me, it was very repetitive and from what I played, the storyline was pretty outplayed. (Well, at least for a game that has mecha in it). I do want to say that the graphics were good.
Summary: Zone of the Enders is one of the game series that I wish we could see more of. Unfortunatly, the HD remake is going to make that hard... Graphically, it's beautiful and much more impressive now. Controls are tight, and well done. BUT...the second game in the pack "The Second Runner" uses the weak and poorly done dub from the original PS2 version, rather than making the most of the DVD format and including either the choice of the Japanese language soundtrack or a new dub...
Summary: I played both of these games when they came out for the PS2 and enjoyed them a lot. The HD versions definatley look better, and the games plays smoothly, but they just do not stand up. The story did not engage me and all of the characters felt flat. It was a fun trip down memory lane, but not something I would suggest to a friend.
Summary: Nostalgia is a cruel mistress indeed. I remember when I first played Zone of The Enders on PS2. I bought the game only because it came with a demo of Metal Gear Solid 2, but actually turned out to be a great game in it's own right. That was then and this is now, and sadly now it just hasn't dated well. Both games are far too short, there is quite noticeable slow down on the screen when too much is happening, and it can get very repetitive.
