Zone Of The Enders HD Collection – Review (PS3, 360)
7 September 2013
Excerpt: Zone of the Enders HD Collection is finally out and I have to say it is a stellar collection that fans of the franchise should check out. Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece has been upgraded with great HD graphics and new opening cinematics that makes the game seem brand new. The game has a great storyline, looks great in HD but, suffers from repetitiveness and inconsistencies in transitions from cinematic and mission variety.
Conclusion: Konami All in all, the Zone of the Enders HD Collection is solid and worth a look for giant robot and action game fans. The games have held up remarkably well and the visuals are actually really quite impressive even today. The gameplay is fast and furious and really quite fun. Slight performance issues do drag the experience down a bit, but the games are still quite playable.

Summary: Zone of the Enders HD Collection is a so-so update of two games that haven’t aged particularly well. While both can easily wow with their great visuals and fast-paced combat, and will do so many times throughout their cumulative 11 hours, they more often than not get bogged down by an erratic camera, shoddy targeting mechanism, and poorly designed, repetitive encounters.
Conclusion: Barring the technical issues with the frame rate, this is still an excellent conversion that presents both games in an excellent format. In HD, both Zone Of The Enders games look fantastic, and it’s great to see such cult classics in a new light.
Excerpt: When the original Zone of the Enders was released on PS2, many people referred to it as the “ Metal Gear Solid 2 demo with the free game.” Fortunately, while that was the primary reason I picked it up, ZOE ended up being a surprisingly quality game.
