Zoids Assault Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: Unfortunately, the animations involved with actually getting each unit into place are a rough-hewn affair. Each Zoid clomps hastily around the game space, moving only in right angles on its way a chosen square. The staccato unit movement especially hurts in Zoids Assault , since so much of your time will be spent planning and placing units about the battlefield.

Zoids Assault

gamervision.com
7 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Name: Zoids Assault Genre: Tactical RPG Platform: Xbox 360 The Zoids franchise is built off of the premise that eventually we will ditch our aerodynamic war-machines in favor of large metal cats with rocket launchers strapped to their backs and EMP cannons mounted to their bellies. Going into Zoids Assault expecting a dramatic, Shakespearean story might be asking too much, and despite being referred to as a tactical RPG, it’s very light on the Role-Playing-Game elements.

Zoids Assault – Staff Review

RandomNPC
29 March 2009
  • Excerpt: For fans of mecha anime, there are few series that lend themselves better to an RPG than Zoids. With such a broad assortment of Zoid frames and equipment, it seems a natural choice for a TRPG. With Zoids Assault , the net result is a mixed bag that does some things extremely well, and some things not as well as a fan might hope.

Zoids Assault

True achievements
23 January 2009
  • Conclusion: There are 14 total missions, and completing them all will net you a cool 500 GS (with 200 for the final mission achievement Mace-6), with another 500 wrapped up in knocking off alien technology, finishing with Defeated UNKNOWN-3. Don't be fooled, though... you'll work hard for those achievements, and you might give up somewhere along the way. In fact, you should just give up now... I played Zoids Assault so you don't have to.

Zoids Assault

uk.gamespot.com
9 September 2008
  • Conclusion: It's odd that the best-looking of Atlus' recent trilogy of Xbox 360 games would be the weakest from a gameplay perspective. Zoids Assault has no personality, reduces its story to recited political mumbo jumbo, and is insanely short without offering any reason to return once you're done. It's functional--and that's it.
  • Pros: Some good technical visuals.
  • Cons: Awful storytelling fails to capture the fun of the Zoids brand, Extremely short for an SRPG, Drab art style relies on excessively grainy visual filter, Customization aspects are unrewarding.

Zoids Assault Review

GamingTrend
16 February 2009
  • Excerpt: Atlus is the company that is well known for bringing niche titles from Japan over to the US.  Without Atlus, we might never see titles like the Shin Megami Tensei series, Disgaea , or Trauma Center .  I remember when I saw that Atlus was going to be publishing games for the sysyem, I really thought that we might see several niche RPG games for the Xbox 360 come out over here. When I heard that Atlus was publishing Zoids Assault , I thought it was an odd choice.
