Sonic Generations

Hooked Gamers
29 April 2011
  • Conclusion: I never thought I'd say this, but I was actually more excited to play as Modern Sonic than Classic Sonic after playing through his levels. In fact, if all the levels had been designed for Modern Sonic, it would have made for a fantastic title. Perhaps it's a testament to how much Sonic has actually progressed and been refined over the years for this modern day and age. But as it is, Sonic Generations is still a fun romp through the series' history.
  • Pros: Graphics are good, Modern Sonic's levels are great, 100+ missions to play through
  • Cons: Main campaign is a bit too short, story is unoriginal and lacklustre, the more modern levels don't translate as well for Classic Sonic.

Test Wheelman

Generation NT

Wheelman Review

  • Excerpt: Given Midway's heavily publicised financial problems and Wheelman's late shift to publisher Ubisoft, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is a game to avoid. We certainly had our reservations, assuming it would be a mildly entertaining action romp that sat somewhere between Driv3r and GTA 4 - we didn't expect it to sit so close to GTA 4 in the enjoyment stakes.

Gangster driver-for-hire; violent but less graphic than GTA.

Common Sense Media

  • Summary: Parents need to know that this is a "Teen"-rated game about underworld crime that it doesn't push the envelope the way the Grand Theft Auto series does. Players can shoot other gang members and thugs as well as police officers (the act will cause cruisers to chase you, which serves as a deterrent as opposed to an incentive) But the game is far less graphic than the likes of the Grand Theft Auto series because there is no blood or extremely violent scenes.

True achievements

Wheelman Review

PlayDevil
21 July 2009
  • Summary: " Wheelman " is a really great concept that has been let down quite badly by some obvious budget cuts. The face that there are only 2 licensed cars means that they stand out, whilst the selection of generic cars is too small. The music is poor and there is no multiplayer. It’s also pretty short when compared to most open world games. However, the core racing and combat is a blast, and the special moves are just fantastic. The story itself is also pretty reasonable.

Game Freaks 365

  • Excerpt: A few months ago the once proud publisher out of Chicago – Midway Games – nearly collapsed under its own morass of mediocrity. It filed for bankruptcy protection, sold off the publishing rights to Wheelman and is possibly negotiating to sell their Mortal Kombat franchise. While the company may suffer the same fatality of their more colorful video game characters, gamers will suffer from an unfinished racing/shooting game hybrid that fails on nearly every level.

  • Excerpt: The definition of a popcorn videogame. If there isn't enough Vin in your gaming life Wheelman is here for you, and is even more outrageous than any Diesel movie - think Diehard: With a Bourne Identity Vengeance. You play as undercover driver-for-hire Milo Burik on a mission to expose the criminal underbelly of Barcelona.
