Viva Pinata Party Animals
Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
Excerpt: There is something very infectious about Viva Pinata Party Animals. Fans of the original Xbox 360 Viva Pinata video game should be warned that this game is a party game based on the Viva Pinata characters. It is nice to see Microsoft embracing fun video games for the entire family. The colorful pinatas race one another, and compete in over fifty party style games. Fans of the Mario Party video games will find some familiar competitive games.
Conclusion: It is worth a rental, but no more then that. Mini-games can only entertain for so long, especially these, and the lack of any kind of story with an overall really easy difficulty to go with this really seals the deal for a short game. Summary: Parents need to know that this game is associated with the children's Viva Piñata TV show. Play is composed of piñata races and short, simple Mini games that are easy to learn and suitable for kids. However, the game supports online play with voice chat enabled, which means other players could be communicating words and ideas that might not be in accord with the game's E rating. Common Sense Media does not recommend online play for any child under age 12.
Excerpt: chance to attend the Microsoft Holiday Preview event in Vancouver, BC. While there we had an opportunity to try out Viva Piñata: Party Animals for the Xbox 360. We only played the game for about 10-15 minutes and overall the quick races and mini-games seemed alright. Nevertheless, at that time I recall thinking, "I hope there is much more to the game than this". Well, after having played the game for several hours I have discovered that my initial thoughts were right.
Conclusion: Viva Piñata: Party Animals might not be the game we are wanting from Rare, but it will do for now. Party Animals is mainly meant for children, teenagers and young adults will most likely get sick of the game play here after an hour or so. You can easily finish this game within two hours and that is including the achievement points if you are good enough. For now I would rent this game, buy Viva Piñata and save the extra money for when Party Animals becomes cheaper.
Summary: Viva Piñata: Party Animals is an easy pick-up-and-play party game that provides hours of fun for players of all ages as they explore a dynamic world through an array of unique and quirky competitions.
