The desolate atmosphere and empathetic look at your enemies make Velvet Assassin a powerful war game. It's bleak and grim, making the horrors of war come to life in disturbing fashion. The lousy gunplay and moronic AI dilute some of the intense realism on display here, but the game is able to stand out despite these problems. Creeping slowly through the shadows is tense and believable, and pulling off these seemingly impossible objectives is deeply satisfying. Velvet... Read more

Despite our reservations about the plot, we had an entertaining time with Velvet Assassin. It never hits the highs of the average Hitman mission, but the game’s palpable atmosphere, and solid sneaking mechanics, should satisfy anyone suffering from stealth-deprivation – and help keep your mind off the agonizing wait until Agent 47, Sam Fisher and Garrett finally emerge from the gloom. Overall Velvet Assassin is a perfect example of what not to do when creating a stealth-action game. The title insults the source from which it gets its story ideas; the story there is plenty yet filled with holes and unentertaining. The gameplay actually ends up being pretty good somewhere in the middle, but it isn’t worth going through the horrible beginning, and hair-pulling end to experience it. Read more

Velvet Assassin is an attempt to bring back the old school style of stealth games some people may remember, before Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid took the genre by storm. And while it does manage to keep the basic gameplay from an earlier time intact, it does nothing to improve upon it. The gameplay is something that some fans of the genre may enjoy, but it’s hard to deny that it feels less like a current generation title and more like an old relic from two console... Read more

Velvet Assassin is one of those rare games based in World War II that shy away from you being able to absorb a copious amount of bullets before dying. Velvet Assassin relies on stealth elements for you to accomplish your mission. You are Violette Summer, an agent sent into Nazi occupied Europe in order to throw a wrench into Hitler's war machine. I found the game fun but to a point. First of all, a golden opportunity was lost to make Violette easy to control. You'd think... Read more

Velvet Assassin takes place in WWII and you will play as a Violet a Female assassin working for the British. You will perform several stealth missions and most are fun and rewarding. You're given multiple ways to get through an area. You'll kill most enemies silently with your knife. The Game does provide several areas where other more entertaining options are available to dispose of your foes. A fine example is pulling the pins on an unsuspecting soldier's grenade. You... This game had alot of potential but, it didn't get there.  The main issue i had was the health of your character.  Any time you were seen it was game over restart from a checkpoint that was usually too far away.  Of course as you go through you can upgrade her health but you need more health early on when you're getting used to the game instead of later.  The collectibles were a cool side quest mechanic but still came a little short.  if your thinking about buying...
