Conclusion: Visually, Vampire Rain is merely ok. There are times when it looks like a few-years-old PC game, which isn’t good for today’s standards of full-priced Xbox 360 titles. The rain effects are quite good in areas, but they’re drenching some simplified models with even simpler mapping over top of them. The AIB ops look professional, but the Nightwalkers aren’t overly scary and move a bit too erratically, even for vampire zombie things.
Excerpt: Playing Splinter Cell with vampires isn't as cool in reality as it is on paper. Despite an absolutely fantastic concept that transforms Sam Fisher's spies and saboteurs into postmodern bloodsuckers called Nightwalkers, insta-death difficulty and confusing level design make Vampire Rain nearly unplayable. Developer Artoon hits some high notes with guts and gore, but the frustration factor kills whatever pluses the game has going for it.
Pros: Combining stealth gameplay with vampires is a great concept
Cons: Truly insane difficulty, Vampires are almost impossible to kill, Enemy vision cones give just a rough approximation of what they can see, Dark and confusing--yet somehow still linear--level design, Jarring, nonstop cutscenes break up the spooky ambiance
Conclusion: But I guess market demand was so high for a splinter cell / metal gear solid clone that they had to get it to the shops in the early wave of X360 titles. For the impatient and those of limited determination you will very quickly wish you never popped in the disc and introduced this 100% completion killer to your 360. For the brave/foolish and future legends of the pad.......
Summary: is abysmally bad. Though the graphics are semi-nice, the gameplay is what shoves a stake deep into what passes for this title's heart. A game which has you sneaking through a vampire-infested city should feel a lot more freeform than this title does, which is constraining, way too linear, frustrating, and paired with one of the worst narratives this side of a season-3
