Trials Evolution: Origins Of Pain DLC – Review (360)
7 September 2013
Excerpt: The Summer of Arcade promotion is over, and while the five games released all did fairly well the real heroes this year are two Spring games: Minecraft and Trials Evolution. Both have been a beacon of hope in what has been a relatively disappointing year for Xbox Live Arcade thus far. Trials Evo is one of only a few of this year’s games we’re still playing are likely to still be this time next year.
Excerpt: RedLynx heard the cries of fans, dishing out a batch of new content for Trials Evolution . Origin of Pain puts you on Paine Island, host to 24 new tracks and two new skill games. Thankfully, these new tracks don’t recycle environments — they’re set in entirely new areas that are even more varied than the full game’s, taking you from a carnival to a Lost-like plane crash to crumbling ancient ruins in a matter of minutes.
Pros: + 24 tracks is a great value for $5., + BMX bike is a welcome addition and controls differently than anything else in the game.
Conclusion: Trials Evolution's first batch of DLC is exactly what the game needs. A decent amount of extra content for 400 MSP will rejuvenate interest in those who have moved on. Upon returning you'll notice a richer, more diverse community to enjoy. Well worth the admission price if you fancy another shot with the downloadable scene's most addictive darlings.
Conclusion: Standout Tracks: There is a an Inception Style level which is amazing but way to short and one massive track which takes 10mins to get round (no I did have 100's of restarts) I think that the multiplayer and the user created tracks is where the new Trials will shine! So if you loved the first Trials this just adds more of the same with great new twisty tracks and great visuals! Cant wait to get the rest of the DTI crew onboard and kicking up dirt Trials style!
Excerpt: Trials HD was a lovely game of simplicity and evil. The controls involved leaning forward and back, analog acceleration, plus a very weak brake/reverse. The Trials series is basically a 2D sidescrolling motorcycle racing/platformer, requiring you to perform dark magics of control on obstacle courses ranging from training levels to insane stunt sequences.
