Too Human Review

IGN Entertainment
6 March 2010
  • Conclusion: Myabe I’m just being a wuss about the enemies and the bosses. No, I still think they do some cheap stuff. Maybe I would have had a better time if I played with a different class. But I should have a good time playing any class, shouldn’t I? And here’s another thing I should do: look awesome at all times. Too Human is full of loot drops, meaning you have tons of weapons and armors to try out and even craft.

Brutal Gamer

  • Excerpt: Too Human is the first game in a planned trilogy for Xbox 360 by Canadian developers Silicon Knights, (whose previous developments include some notable titles such as Blood Omen:Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.) Too Human is a 3 rd person RPG where you play Baldur, a cybernetically enhanced warrior set in a world based on what can only be described as a sort of “Alternate earth” where Norse mythology is the only...

Too Human

GAMESQUAD
27 September 2008
  • Conclusion: It is practically miraculous that Too Human, in spite of its massive, unforgiveable flaws, is not a total disaster. At its core (way deep down there) there is a winning formula: addictive combat mechanics coupled with addictive equipment management and RPG levelling-up features. But to get to that core, you have to sift through reams of garbage.
  • Pros: Addictive core combat; addictive levelling up and looting system; replayability.
  • Cons: God awful story; bland visuals; frustrating, repetitive enemy encounters; awful pacing.

Game Freaks 365

  • Excerpt: There have been several examples of games crossing platforms from one generation to the next, including Star Fox Adventures, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil 0, Kameo: Elements of Power and Eternal Darkness (which like Too Human, was also made by Silicon Knights). But few video games take ten years to make and even fewer can say that they spanned development across three different platforms.

Too Human

ActionTrip

  • Conclusion: Most gamers are bound to complete the main campaign very quickly and when they do, they'll have precious little to remember it by. What's more to the point, Too Human offers a rather lousy rendition of well-known characters and deities from the Norse mythology. The gameplay feels like it could've amounted to so much more than a routine sequence of smashing the living crap out of the same types of enemies over and over again; alas, it didn't.
  • Pros: Rewarding skill system, tons of items and weapons to toy around with, 2-play co-op is fun.
  • Cons: Steepish learning curve, dreary story, you are tossed in an endless cycle of repetitive levels and similar-looking enemies, short and technically flawed, frame-rate issues.

Too Human

GamersHell.com

  • Excerpt: It’s been nearly a decade since Dennis Dyack and his Silicon Knights started development of their Too Human title. Hopping from one generation to the next, things have finally been settled and the cyber-Norse trilogy finds its way to the public’s hands on the 360. Ten years is a seemingly eternity for game development—especially when you look at some of the cycles out there—but after spending around 30 hours hacking, shooting and grinding my way through the game...

Too Human

GameTrailers
21 August 2008
  • Excerpt: Tested on Xbox 360. How many games can we think of that have been in development for around 10 years? We can only think of a few, and Too Human is one of them. Beginning life on the original PlayStation, this loot-heavy hack-and-slash has some huge expectations to live up to, but has all the time spent in the incubator resulted in a spry chicken or an old hen?
