H.A.W.X 2 – Review (Xbox 360)

Gametactics
16 November 2010
  • Conclusion: H.A.W.X. 2 is somewhat fun at its core but is an entirely forgettable experience. Some parts are frustrating and those end up being your strongest memories instead of what it really is, a decent but mediocre arcade flyer.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2

Game Boyz

  • Excerpt: When Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. arrived on the scene in March 2009, it was met with mixed reaction. While some praised the game’s storyline and co-op gameplay, many cited concern with game’s visuals, framerate drops, and lack of multiplayer. Fast-forward a year and half later and the sequel has arrived in the form of H.A.W.X. 2.

HAWX 2

oxmonline.com
21 September 2010
  • Excerpt: Yellow diamonds aren’t stressful until you realize they’re all enemies surrounding the gunship you have to protect. Our screen is full of yellow diamonds. And we’re freaking out. We didn’t feel that way during 2009’s HAWX, which, while fun in its own right, lacked a real sense of urgency.
  • Pros: + Top-notch pacing and mission design., + Meta-achievements that earn us more XP? Hell yeah!
  • Cons: - A few really tough missions., ? How does a MiG not crash after being hit with one missile?

H.A.W.X. 2

D+PAD
17 September 2010
  • Conclusion: It’s by no means perfect, and as the player it can become overwhelming at times to keep a track of orders whilst firing at enemies and keeping an eye on the radar. However, H.A.W.X 2’s aerial dogfights are a thrill and the game can also boast one of the finest examples of accurately recreated landscapes ever seen – it’s a good job that we don’t care to guess at the time it takes to bind all the satellite images into the game for the 3D representation of H.A.W.X 2’s...

  • Conclusion: A fine distraction, different to anything else out there when played as an individual. A good amount of fun in co-op mode.

Tom Clancy's HAWX 2

xboxachievements.com
11 September 2010
  • Conclusion: HAWX 2 is such a letdown after the brilliant original and, if anything, feels like it has gone back a few steps rather than making any kind of progression. There is still plenty of fun to be had, especially in co-op or on the survival maps, but the first game has the edge in almost every regard. Bottom line: get your flight kicks there.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X 2

Digital Chumps
9 September 2010
  • Conclusion: If you enjoyed the original HAWX, then it's not hard to recommend HAWX 2, despite the removal of some features (and the welcomed addition of others). But if HAWX didn't capture your attention the first time, there isn't anything in this sequel that will change your mind. Bottomline, it's still a good game, but it isn't quite great.
