Bugs Galore!

DarkSoulv , GameStop
7 July 2013
  • Summary: When I first picked up this game, I was excited. It was difficult to find a good game to play coop with my girlfriend. When we started playing and continued playing into the night we were both satisfied with how great the gameplay and coop was. Then the next day we discovered that all of that hype was just a cover for a pool of unsolved bugs. My character's story progress was saved at Part 1 Chapter 22. Her's was saved at Part 1 Chapter 5.

Co-op bug

John E. Brandt "JBB", Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this game to play with my wife and we were having a great time, until we came back to it after a couple of days and found that we could not continue to save one of the characters info. After some research we found that this is a problem that many people are having and it makes playing the game in two player mode impossible. It's a fun, simple game, but this bug makes it worthless to two players. Very disappointing.

Too Many Technical Glitches

Cynthia L., Amazon
19 February 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this game based on the co-op properties and excellent reviews so that my husband and I could play together. Now I am wondering WHO wrote those reviews? The WB Games or Snowblind staff, perhaps? While the graphics, attention to detail and faithful regard for the Tolkien epic are truly spectacular, the numerous technical glitches that should have been resolved before the game was mass produced cause it to be literally unplayable, particularly in co-op: Save...

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

Kyle, Amazon
12 February 2013
  • Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! It has a large amount of glitches. If you are lucky enough to not be affected by one, then you will get to enjoy an average 3 star game. If on the other hand you encounter a bug, you are likely to be complete screwed and have to start over. Multiplayer has massive saving problems, constantly causing issues because one player is more progressed than another, even though you are actually at the same point in the game!

Moments Of Brilliance In Between Troubleshooting Sessions

P. Montgomery "kappa987", Amazon
3 November 2012
  • Summary: Having enjoyed the prior PS2-based games in this series, such as "Champions Of Norrath", my wife and I purchased War In The North for our XBox 360 with much anticipation. The graphics were great and the battle sequences were incredibly intense. But there were severe problems in saving game progress. We could only save game progress for one of our two characters, while the other character would start from square one when subsequently resuming the game..

So close and yet....

Yasoda Dei Conti, Amazon
3 January 2012
  • Summary: Ok, so this review is going to be a bit... conflicting. I bought the game for myself and my father for Christmas - we live far apart and like to play coop games together. We kicked Portal 2's posterior and had a wonderful wonderful time. I'd read good things about the coop design for WitN and thought, Merry Christmas! That said, Dad and I have played the game for several fun-filled evenings, and I've played the single player game as well.

  • Summary: I wouldn't wish this game on my worst enemy. Total garbage. No ability to save, it saves for you at random times. No documentation, so don't expect to be able to figure out how to move your equipment around without totally messing up your character. Same with the experience points. I should have just picked a decent established game to go with my xbox bundle but chose this nightmare because I'm such a LOTR fan. What a letdown.

Dissapointed

Magnum , GameStop
1 January 2011
  • Summary: didnt meet my expectations at all. campaign was average at best because of the evil side and heros you could be but the graphics were terrible and the gameplay sucked. The narrator was annoying throughout the whole campaign and it was all the same. Online was a step up from the campaign, but still bad. The trolls/ents were cool but the characters were very limited in being able to do something different. this game was a fail to say the least.
