A very underrated and over-criticized mech simulator that stands as the best Kinect game I have played to date.

  • Summary: The reviews that mention the game being unplayable due to Kinect controls almost seem like a conspiracy. I got this game recently and have been having a grand time with it. One of the best mech sims since the original to came out for the old school xbox. The most important part is calibrating kinect before getting into the game and making sure you are far enough away so that you body is entirely visible by the sensor, especially your hands.

Good but could be so much better...

Joel, Amazon
28 July 2013
  • Summary: I havn't beaten the game yet but I believe that the game is fair and has been overcriticized by the reviewers. Sure it is challenging and sure kinect sometimes doesn't live up to what is needed in the game, but for the most part, the game works.

Good game!

  • Summary: Not a bad game but has a few glitches. I noticed sometimes during game play seems like the kinect has trouble finding me which usually results in a loss for me. Other than that..so far I really like this game.

Pretty ok for me

  • Summary: Well to start off by saying that the game is pretty darn good. Not bad for a first war game on Kinect. I really like the game because you can control the robot or whatever you want to call it. But when you get in the missions, it is pretty darn hard because they expect you to be quick on the missions. Yea, it is like war speed like you have to react quicker with the objectives.

Much better than the critics rated

Jonathan K. Vargason, Amazon

  • Summary: I have played through about half of the game and will update if anything changes, however I can say that Steel Battalion Heavy Armor did not deserve the panning the critics gave it. I consider myself a core gamer, however I have no hate for Kinect, Move, Wii, or Wii-U Tablet. I believe they can compliment core games. Steel Battalion is a core game for Kinect. It is definitely not a casual friendly game. The truth is, it's not a friendly game at all.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review

Austin, Amazon
11 August 2012
  • Summary: I just picked this up today and I am having a really good time with it. The game is hard, as in a lot of challenge, not controls. I personally haven't had really any issues with the controls. Just make sure you have your kinect properly set up and sit in proper range for it to read what you are doing. I have only on occasion accidentally grabbed the wrong control in the tank, but for the most part it has been pretty spot on for me.

The first true hardcore kinect title.

Matt T., Amazon
2 August 2012
  • Summary: When I first heard the announcement of this game, I was ecstatic. Being such a fan of the original Steel Battalion, I was anxious to see how they would utilize the functions of the Kinect to make a true hard core title for us Kinect owners. One that doesn't involve us jumping in place or dancing. And I have to admit, they pretty much nailed it. The game itself is difficult, yes.

Not as bad as most critics claims

LTdaz, Amazon

  • Summary: I had fun with it anyways. While it's true that kinect functionalities are bit spotty with detection and recognition but it works well enough if I'm deliberate and slower in making the gestures.
