Underneath All The Hostility Is A Hidden Gem Of An Experience

Basalt, Amazon
21 May 2015
  • Summary: "Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor," developed by From Software and published by Capcom, has been labeled by pretty much everybody as one of the absolute worst games ever created in the history of the world. The number one reason is because of the Kinect Software that is required to play this game.

A very underrated and over-criticized mech simulator that stands as the best Kinect game I have played to date.

  • Summary: The reviews that mention the game being unplayable due to Kinect controls almost seem like a conspiracy. I got this game recently and have been having a grand time with it. One of the best mech sims since the original to came out for the old school xbox.

Good but could be so much better...

Joel, Amazon
28 July 2013
  • Summary: I havn't beaten the game yet but I believe that the game is fair and has been overcriticized by the reviewers. Sure it is challenging and sure kinect sometimes doesn't live up to what is needed in the game, but for the most part, the game works.

  • Summary: Not a bad game but has a few glitches. I noticed sometimes during game play seems like the kinect has trouble finding me which usually results in a loss for me. Other than that..so far I really like this game.

User Review

Gerro V., Newegg
15 October 2012
  • Summary: It has it's flaws but in the end, I enjoyed the game a lot. The game length isn't that long but you can replay missions after you beat it and change the fate for platoon members who may have died on your first play through on certain missions.
  • Pros: Only mech game I've played that really makes you feel like you are inside a mech or in this case, "Vertical Tank". This is thanks to the whole Kinect features which you use when you are inside the VT. You can look around, interact with crew members who all have their own unique personalities and ...
  • Cons: Placement of some the interactive points with the VT are too close together. I found myself pressing the wrong button like switching on the lights when I wanted to pull the vent chain. The game should have utilized voice commands for the certain controls like telling you loaders to switch ammo ty...

Much better than the critics rated

Jonathan K. Vargason, Amazon

  • Summary: I have played through about half of the game and will update if anything changes, however I can say that Steel Battalion Heavy Armor did not deserve the panning the critics gave it. I consider myself a core gamer, however I have no hate for Kinect, Move, Wii, or Wii-U Tablet.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review

Austin, Amazon
11 August 2012
  • Summary: I just picked this up today and I am having a really good time with it. The game is hard, as in a lot of challenge, not controls. I personally haven't had really any issues with the controls.
