Conclusion: There aren't many compliments I can give Star Trek Legacy from a graphical standpoint. Granted, space games are hard to pull off since there’s so much dead “space”, but things are just too bland overall. The particle effects are uninspiring, the ship models look somewhat cartoon-y, and the background objects like space stations and planets appear like pasted-on clip art for whatever reason. The extras like the reticules, battle map, and H.U.D.
Excerpt: Being the Trekkie that I am, I’ve been looking forward to Star Trek: Legacy ever since the title was first announced. Now that the release date is growing very near, I’m pretty hyped! Combining strategic combat with massive ships and the beloved Star Trek universe, Legacy will surely be a hit with strategy lovers and Star Trek fans alike! You’ll take the role of a Starfleet Admiral in charge of a taskforce of starships.
Excerpt: Spanning the entire Star Trek Universe, featuring the voices of all five Captains, developed by Mad Doc, the developers of Star Trek Armada , and with a story by D.C. Fontana, it sounds like Star Trek Legacy has all the ingredients of a great game. Will it satisfy die-hard Star Trek fans? Is it good enough to appeal to non-Trekkies? Read on to find out. The game starts out with the crew of Archer’s Enterprise.
Excerpt: For Star Trek fans there can't have been many things more exciting than Star Trek Legacy. It's been a while since we had a good Trek game and Legacy seemed to be combining stunningly beautiful space combat with a story spanning all five Star Trek eras. Add in voice work from the five captains, all the major enemies from the show's history, and there seemed little that could go wrong.
Conclusion: This is one just for the big Star Trek fans. The average gamer is unlikely to maintain interest for too long; especially given the main campaign has a completion time of around 10 hours. The game comes with a network multiplayer mode, but given the lack of strategic elements within the game that really doesn’t count for much.
Summary: In the end I can only recommend Star Trek Legacy to a big Trek fan. Repetitive gameplay, uninspired voice acting, and bland scenery won’t be able to compensate for the true to Trek gameplay and ship designs and details to most gamers. For those that are into the Trek mythos, Legacy is worth giving a shot as long as expectations are held in check and you understand what kind of game you will be getting… a solid but unspectacular space combat sim.
Conclusion: If you dare to put this epic game on its hardest level you will find very quickly it is no push over. Get a few friends to play horde with youand may find yourself overrun by borg cubes. Believe me it never gets old blowing up borg ships you can have fun for days. I have to say the graphics are some of the best i have ever seen. Get it and go where no one has gone before.
Excerpt: Platform: Xbox 360 Rating: E10+ for fantasy violence and mild language Star Trek Legacy is probably the best, or at least one of the best, Trek games made having to do with star ships. That’s saying a lot because over the years many have been produced but rarely have any really captured the feeling of Star Trek. This all changed with Legacy, which was made by the same people who made The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda Softworks.
Summary: Legacy is an epic game of Starfleet combat covering the entire Star Trek Universe. Players become the Admiral of a task force of warships and must lead their fleet to victory in large-scale battles.
