One thing that doesn't get better over time, unfortunately, is the voice acting. It ranges from barely tolerable to hang-yourself-and-everyone-around-you bad, which drowns out the great soundtrack provided. Some characters like Lymle, a little girl who specializes in Symbology, are so mind-gratingly annoying that you'll actually want to stop playing because of her. She ends nearly each sentence with "'kay?" even if that sentence isn't a question. Imagine hearing the... Read more
Like all RPG type games, Star Ocean can take a long time to finish and that’s part of its charm really. While it’s not perfect, its an excellent addition to you Xbox collection of games, that is if you like these types of games and have the time to commit to them. The graphics are great, and the fighting system works well, it really makes you fell like you’re in the game, I like the active style system instead of sitting there and watching what happens after you... is not an RPG for everyone. People who don't care about the story will be able to skip the cut-scenes and focus on the excellent and deep combat and stay occupied with the many extras. Those hoping for an adventure in an awesome world filled with interesting characters should know there are better games to buy and play. And that's an understatement. Read more
Star Ocean: The Last Hope is not a genre-defining title but it is a solid RPG and pretty darn fun to play. If you push past the initial minor frustrations, drawn out cut scenes and get yourself to the meat of the game, you won't be disappointed. Featuring stunning battles and robust character development, Star Ocean: The Last Hope ends the series on a high note. Read more
A very good game in my opinion, although I admit it may be an acquired taste. I have a high tolerance for Japaneese cheese. The disk changing is annoying, and some of the characters are a little annoying (Lymle, I'm looking at you), but quite a few are actually quite well written, a la Myuria. Okay, the voices for some characters are downright annoying at times *cough*Sarah*Cough* , but hey, they gameplay is super-special-awesome. As are the bunnies. You have to love the... Read more
I love rpg's. The only thing is that the dialogue could be better. It's a bit awkward at times but given the games makers and origins it's understandable. Plus, I'm more focused on where the story goes and the action. Read more
Alright so here is the deal with this game. This game could have been good if they didn't take it in the direction they did, it had a wonderful premise. Graphics - It has wonderful graphics, it feels like this is where all the budget went in fact, the graphics are so pointlessly good. Level Design - The levels, that is all the areas, all the dungeons, are extremely simplistic or needlessly long, it hardly feels like an environment which is bad for an RPG. All of the... Fun: I really love this games, never played the previous games, but after I finish this game I'm gonna get all the other games. But why? Well, first of all, the graphics are amazing, it doesn't need FMV (only opening is fmv), and i like it more if it is in-game graphics animation. Like all JRPG, The game itself is a more balanced game between story and actual gameplay. That's why I like it, not to many texts to read, and the fighting is avoidable, if you don't want to...
