Excerpt: A lot has been made out of the awesome looking x-ray kill cam in Sniper Elite v2 and the bragging rights are totally justified. This bullet cam is just the tip of the iceberg of features that follow up to original Xbox title and what could be a game hinged on one jaw dropping moment has become a stunning title that ticks a lot of boxes.
Conclusion: You may want to pick it up and play it again or randomly play with a friend but other than that, there isn't too much. It is worth playing. Especially worth playing if you picked it up during the Games with Gold program. Everything here is based solely on MY experience and opinions with the game. I hope you enjoyed the review. -J.R.
Summary: I will be honest and say that I did not approach " Sniper Elite V2 " with particularly high expectations yet what I got was a rather enjoyable game which may be far from perfect yet has enough enjoyable gameplay moments to be considered a game worthy of a play through.
Summary: Sniper Elite V2 is neither on the sim side of the scale nor on the arcade side, instead resting somewhere in the middle. While this definitely causes some frustrating moments, and is bound to be disappointing to those wanting a more stealth-oriented offering, it serves up some decent action.
Excerpt: When Sniper Elite came out a few years ago I was in the middle of the online first-person shooter craze that seemed to be sweeping the world with Counter-Strike, Medal of Honour, Battlefield and a host of other games. It was a real change in pace to play a game that demanded stealth and thought to complete the missions, and similar to being a sniper in Counter-Strike without the added bonus of people calling you a camper and otherwise being nasty to you.
Conclusion: Sniper Elite V2 is a solid game and one that should provide plenty of entertainment for those with an interest in brutally doing away with their enemies with a high powered rifle (read: everyone). Sadly there are a few flaws that hold the game back and make it a more frustrating experience than it ought to be. There is still plenty here to enjoy, but only if you're prepared to endure a few rough spots.
Excerpt: A bullet erupts from your rifle in slow motion. A camera tracks the trajectory of the projectile until it impacts the target’s chest. Bone shatters as the round rips through his sternum, perforates his still-beating heart, and then explodes out the back. Did we mention you’re watching this from a close-up, X-ray perspective? If that sounds like the coolest thing you’ve ever heard, then Sniper Elite V2 is a must-buy.
Pros: + The graphic “kill cam” earns the game’s Mature rating and our applause., + Strategic gameplay and great graphics.
Cons: ? Why is a “Kill Hitler” mission available only as free-with-preorder DLC?
Conclusion: Free downloadable content? Well let's not be too grateful. Multiplayer modes should have been put in the original release, so consider this a complement to the original review. Full credit to Rebellion for actually bothering to make things right, of course - it's just a pity that, to get the best from this DLC, you really would do well to have friends who still own the game rather than trying to find new ones online.
