Summary: Played this game 5 years ago. Never got around to reviewing it until now. More recently, I played Alan Wake, which I found very similar to this game, only much less heavy.
Pros: This is the first Silent Hill game I've ever played, so I'm not burdened by the inevitability of comparing it to the other games in the series. This game for me felt very heavy and oppressive, like staring into a dark abyss... I can't say that it was fun... but, that's the point- I don't think the developers wanted me to have fun. =).
Cons: I think it's a solid game overall, but it was hard for me to get through.
Summary: Iv'e been a fan of Silent Hill ever since the second game came out and I have been collecting the games over time. This game is pretty fun and challenging at the same time. My personal favorite is downpour but this one takes fourth place as a favorite especially since the story is interesting.
If you like the first 3 SH games, you will like this one. Buy it.

Summary: Good game so far, true to silent hill series. Only drawback is, monsters are somewhat easy to kill at first, you just have to keep hitting buttons but as the game progresses, levels and monsters get waaay harder and the button mashing method will not work. Second drawback is, game has no real exploration. Once you get into an area, there is only one way to go. All doors are locked except for the ones you need to go through, so there is no real "surprise".
Summary: This may seem like an Americanized version of Silent Hill but please don't be put off by it. The storyline and the atmosphere remain dark, violent and tense. The story itself revolves around a mysterious pact a town has made and the consequences it must suffer, in my opinion the storyline was at times long winded but when you get to the final twist you would understand why.
