Shadows of the Damned Review

gamingillustrated.com
18 August 2011
  • Excerpt: Talk about a title that brings Harley Davidson, Tommy Lee, the undead, a little Spawn and some Resident Evil type of action to your screen! With Shadows of the Damned, you have a title that brings a unique energy but forgets fill up its tank before a long journey, which is what you get in this recent title from EA and Shinji Mikami. You play the game as Garcia, a Hispanic demon hunter covered in tats. You love hard liquor, your girlfriend and your guns.

Shadows of the Damned (X360) - Review

VGChartz
24 July 2011
  • Excerpt: When two of the industry’s best combine their efforts to create a new IP, like a pack of vultures you’d think a considerable amount of “buzz” would be circling around the ol’ internetz. Yet, Suda 51 and Shinji Makimi’s (of Resident Evil fame) gem of a game, Shadows of the Damned , is a relatively obscure entity to be looked over by the masses.

Shadows of the Damned Xbox 360 Review

Console Obsession
22 July 2011
  • Excerpt: Horror games are usually dour affairs, though over the last few years we’ve seen the arrival of the Dead Rising series, of which, with its many amusing methods of offing the zombie population, has brought some uncommon brightness to the genre. Shadows of the Damned is a Grasshopper Manufacture game, so it’s hardly a surprise that there’s also an element of humour prevalent throughout.

  • Excerpt: Featuring brain-eating baby heads, bleating goat busts, and a redneck demon shopkeeper, Shadows of the Damned is Suda 51’s most mainstream offering yet. Sure, this grindhouse-inspired trip through hell is twisted as all get out, even making EA’s last invitation to the nine circles, Dante’s Inferno , look like a day trip to Disneyland.

Shadows of the Damned

Game Over Online
29 June 2011
  • Excerpt: Shadows of the Damned would be the single best downloadable game this year, but unfortunately, it's a retail disc. That, more than anything else, is an objective problem with the game; it's easy, short, has virtually nothing in the way of a post-game or unlockables, and mostly rides on shock value, so a second playthrough has a fraction of the entertainment value of the first. If I'd pulled it off of XBLA for ten bucks, I'd rant and rave to all who'd listen.

  • Excerpt: After experiencing EA’s latest release Shadows of the Damned, I sit here trying to think of how to go about writing this review. The first thing off the top of my head is that this game will not be for everyone, given the extremely mature content, but that should not sway those age appropriate gamers to look away.

Shadows of the Damned

gamerlimit.com
24 June 2011
  • Excerpt: By now, fans will know what to expect from a Suda 51 experience. This self proclaimed “punk rock” developer has become famous for abstract games that buck trends, break all the rules, and lay on heavy helpings of satire and adolescent humor. With Shadows of the Damned Grasshopper Manufacture takes that excellent existing culture and mixes things up considerably by combining forces with industry giant Electronic Arts, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, and Silent Hill...

Shadows of the Damned Review

GamerNode
23 June 2011
  • Excerpt: When you start up Shadows of the Damned , you’re asked if you want to start your own road movie. It’s a fitting description because Shadows of the Damned feels like a grindhouse road movie where you trek through Hell with your guide and companion Johnson, a talking, floating skull who loves to crack dick jokes and morphs into your tools of destruction for you.
