Serious Sam Double D XXL
2 September 2013
Summary: The Serious Sam franchise is known for being insane, over-the-top, funny, and an overall satisfying experience. Though each game in the core series is a first-person shooter, developer Mommy's Best Games has taken the franchise in a different direction, turning it into a platformer and dual-joystick shooter hybrid with a heavy emphasis on chaos. A PC version was released in 2011, but this new XXL version comes with more content, including local cooperative play.
Review: Serious Sam Double D XXL (Microsoft Xbox 360)
1 April 2013
Excerpt: I honestly don’t know how to start this review. I’m not sure how to capture in words just how ridiculous Serious Sam Double D XXL is, and as someone who considers themselves a writer (there’s an ad for my book on the right of this page, cheap plug!) then that’s admitting a pretty big failure.
Conclusion: It’s goofy, way over-the-top, and terribly fun. It’s a little lacking in content, though, so it may not be worth the investment for every gamer, but it’s still a damn fine game. My Rating: 8/10 – great.
Review: Serious Sam Double D XXL is a gun-stacking, time-traveling, enemy-blasting good time
20 February 2013
Excerpt: If there's something left to be desired after playing Serious Sam Double D XXL , it's a delicious, juicy double bacon cheeseburger. Hell, I could probably even go for a triple or, like, some weird burrito-and-burger combination. The reason for this is due to the constant theme of stacking in Double D XXL . Throughout the entirety of this time-traveling adventure, you're frequently stacking guns to create a massive weapon of pure, unbridled chaos.
Excerpt: Revamping an indie spinoff first released for PC in 2011, Serious Sam Double D XXL yanks Sam out of his traditional first-person surroundings and drops him into a side-scrolling shoot-’em-up filled with huge foes and confusingly thick hordes of headless kamikaze idiots. The only way to deal with such outrageous pacing is, of course, lots of guns. At once.
Pros: + Mowing down charging hordes with stacked guns can be immensely fun., + Stages are surprisingly huge, with plenty of hidden paths and items.
Excerpt: Serious Sam Double D XXL is the newest release in the highly popular series from publisher Mastertronic. Rather than giving fans another first-person shooter adventure however, Mastertronic brought in developer Mommy's Best Games to make a crazy new title in the form of classic shoot 'em ups.
