Fun for what it is
6 June 2012
Summary: Coming from Rockstar, who started to delve away from GTA with first the Warriors, then this game and Bully, graphics are reminiscent of more involved games. And while you can easily play a ping pong game irl, this is a fun option with a bunch of people who are bored with beating each other up in knockout but still have that edge of competition in them.
Summary: I'm not gonna lie, I bought this game for under $10 because it was a deal and I'm a big fan of tennis video games. I was hooked on top spin for the xbox and this game is extremely similar, but on the small scale. A,B,X,Y are all different hit styles, and the game features a cool feature of counterspinning by returning a hit using the same style. The ball glows different colors to let you know whats coming, but the pace is so fast it takes some getting used to.
Summary: I purchased this game due to gamespot critics giving it a good rating, and the fact that rockstar produced it. The single player version gets a little repetitive but increased skill level is in constant demand. The tournament play gets increasingly difficult, and never frustrating. There are quite a few unlockables, including a few table tennis gods. The two player version of this game is great party fun, especially once you have unlocked some of the better characters.
Summary: Rockstar is known to make superior games which surprise everyone. The are mainly associated with Grand Theft Auto, but the also have The Warriors, Manhunt, and now Table Tennis under their belt. All these are great games, including Table Tennis. It's hard to capture the realism of a sport. Somehow Rockstar managed to completely imitate the sport so that it is as realistic as possible.
Summary: So many of the games that play head to head on 360 are violent, this is great for the whole family. It was easy to catch onto and very competitive! This was fun for my nine year old to play her dad, and all the kids in between. Highly Recommend for a fun time!
Summary: This game is one of the most realistic sports games ever made. How simple Table Tennis seems, but your style and swagger is truely evident from the skilled, practiced gamer. Just becuase you hold the paddle, don't think you won't get spanked. Take it on-line to play with the best in the world, see me at the top of the mountain.
Summary: Rockstar always does the unexpected or walks the edge of gaming in a way like no other company. Running down hookers, being part of a snuff film, and now ping pong. What??? This is not Rockstar's usual brand of game but it is a nice change in their unlawful schedule. Gameplay in Table Tennis is addictive and even Top Spin fans may switch sports after they play this game. Controls are easy to learn and matches never lose intensity.
Summary: Who would have ever thought that table tennis would make a great videogame or a 360 game for that matter. The gameplay is extraordinary, it almost feels like your playing the real thing. Xbox live is solid but I wish that games started modeling their rank system after halo 2's. This game is missing several features which could make it a great game.
Conclusion: All in all this game has to be one of the best titles on offer for the Xbox 360. Not only is it half the price of a usual game (£24.95/$39.99), but it truly is a fun game. Many were a bit worried hearing about a Table Tennis game being created by Rockstar, gamers would have been at ease if the paddle was an AK47 or the ball a stick of TNT, but despite the worries, Rockstar have created a game which will be played for many months on and offline.
