Summary: I hate fighting with a trigger!!!!!!!! If you go into a room to explore you get yelled at or beat up, and then certain people are mad at you, they won't talk to you and you need to talk to them all because you went in thier room!! hey this game is so slow in some parts its boring!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary: This really should be called Gothic 3. It was made by the folks who brought us the first 2 Gothic games. It has a rich story and plenty of freedom to do what you want. You can choose what quests you want to do and in what order. Eventually you have to choose a side. You can do quests for both sides to maximize your experience points though. My only complaint is the limited area... But there is a lot packed into such a small island.
Summary: Having played Risen 2 first, I knew this game was bound to have plenty of flaws. Right away I could tell that the controls were a bit touchy (the x-axis is way too sensitive and you can't change it) and that the fighting was rough. Almost every encounter was a test of my will to continue. I stuck with it and it got easier to deal, with better weapons and armor and just getting used to the game. The maps and submenus are also hard to get used to.
Summary: I have played this game on the PC prior to getting an Xbox 360, and so my memories of it are based on my playing it on the PC. The Xbox 360 version of the game sadly is very ugly in comparison to the PC version, but since I like the game and it probably pushed the 360 to it's limits I can't knock a point off for that. It's a solid RPG, with a real good story.
Summary: Very fun but difficult game, I found myself saving frequently as the traps in the game were overboard and monsters sometimes caused instant deaths resulting in game over! Graphics are dated but story is good and music is great. Combat is decent but I did struggle with annoyance as it seemed like even enemies who you'd think wouldn't be very intelligent blocked like they were a master of the art.
Summary: There is a lot more then meets the eye with Risen. Once I got passed the initial shock of the sub par graphics and touchy controls I found an RPG full of life and enjoyable gameplay. I have sunk more time in this then I thought I would, now on my second play through. For any RPG fan I would recommend at least one play through! Just remember don't come expecting an Oblivion or Dragons Age, but something with enjoyable gameplay and a world to match!
