Pros & Cons

  • challenging enemies, superior keyboard mouse controls, chris is back, brings back old characters, shooter gameplay
  • the single, fairly frequent loading, some camera issues, a short story, stubbornly idiosyncratic capcom controls

Somewhere in Africa, innocent villagers are transforming into ruthless abominations. Chris Redfield and his new partner, Sheva Alomar, must stop whatever is causing the disturbing turn of events. Now featuring online co-op, players can experience the next generation of fear together as terror moves out of the shadows and into the light of day. document.write(’<s’+’cript language="JavaScript" src="http://view.atdmt.com/jaction/tgmre5_RE5CapcomShop_1"></s’+’cript>’)

It seems presumptuous; plain rude even to question whether or not Capcom know just what ‘survival horror’ is anymore. After all, they pretty much set the rules for what it takes to get the bowels moving in ways you’d rather them not. Nemesis has been the source of many a sleepless night over the years and don’t even get me started on my old friend, Tyrant. The term ‘survival horror’ and Resident Evil are like peas in a pod – they just go together. But... Read more

At its barest, Resident Evil 5 is a polished experience. The checkpoint system is fair, not belittling, the pacing is strong and the campaign is, ironically, a better length than its predecessor. Yes, in a day and age when we moan about the length of games, Resident Evil 5’s twelve hours is highly respectable and negates much of the backtracking which padded out its darker forebear. You can go back and collect the B.S.S.A. badges too if you wish, and the Mercenaries... Read more

Even with all the small problems, it was still a fun, enjoyable experience. Even with all its merits, and there are plenty, Resident Evil 5 is a disappointment. Read more

"Resident Evil 5" is a brilliant achievement. It’s probably the best looking game on the 360, and only Gears 2 comes even close. It’s also got a great story that is a real treat for the fans, although newcomers may find it a little convoluted and confusing. Read more

Overall, Versus is a good step in the right direction for a Resident Evil deathmatch-type mode. Slayers is my personal pick of the modes, even if I do deem it as problematic at times. Playing with a friend while playing either team game is a total blast and adds a new competitive feeling to the usual Mercenaries gameplay. Versus is very much worth the asking price of $5.00 or 400 MS points for any player that wants to extend the life of Resident Evil 5 more than it... Read more

Well I have to say this Resident evil is A BIG step up from the fourth, i love the greatness of this game. The worst part of this game for me is when you are dying and your partner sprays you while you are falling and you still die that and when you are playing on single player as Chris, when Sheva doesnt follow you and she gets hurt or dies, thats a pain, but other than that very amazing graphics. The new gamplay that it has where the Infected people come from every... Read more

I wish they would combine the improvement in RE5 with the pros in RE4. Fortunately the game is still addicting, but in a different way. With RE4 I played mostly the story mode. In RE5, the story mode is less addicting, and after a while I play mostly the mercenaries. Read more

How do I get the included downloadable contents? Capcom lied to me...I wouldn't have bought it, if it had said the extra episodes were actually downloadable. Oh boy, what a mistake for getting a 360. Great job you stupid Microsoft and lair Capcom. Now I have no choice, but returning it. I guess now I learned the hard way that I should have gotten a slim PS3 instead. Read more

Continuing the horror action series Resident Evil 5 takes us to Africa to hunt down the vaunted Las Plagas that came into being in Resident Evil 4.  Do Chris and Sheva score headshots or get beaten by shambling hoards? Gameplay Resident Evil 5 is an over the shoulder third person shooter.  The camera is over the right shoulder so you have no real view of your left side but it really isn't a problem.  The controls feel fine and the game plays much like Resident Evil 4,...
