Real Steel

BluRay Authority
28 January 2012
  • Excerpt: If you’ve lamented the lack of robot based combat games on the Live Arcade, then rejoice, as Real Steel has arrived to satisfy your need for robotic violence. The premise is simple enough, take two robots and battle it out until one is destined for the scrap heap, while the other basks in victory’s sweet embrace. While games based on film licenses have a bad reputation, Real Steel manages to buck the trend.

  • Conclusion: Grinding out levels and paid for content have their places in games, and neither should be in a $10 downloadable game based on a movie.  There are a few moments that the game feels really fun but those moments wear off very quickly once the grind kicks in.  Unless Real Steel is a movie that defines you there really isn’t any reason to go whole hog over this game.  Oh, it doesn’t have Hugh Jackman in it in case you were wondering.

  • Conclusion: I have to pay real money to change my robot's colour? Seriously?
  • Pros: Decapitating an enemy with a flurry of punches.
  • Cons: Success in the game is hidden behind a paywall.

REAL STEEL

True achievements
20 October 2011
  • Conclusion: There are many strategies to be learned and tons of awesome customizing, but I didn’t like how much seemed like you needed to pay for in order to be a better robot. It was also at the start un-enjoyable getting beat, then getting crushed online. It was an overall neat play and featured a really well built customization area.

Real Steel

14 October 2011
  • Excerpt: Hugh Jackman's nowhere to be found, but who needs him? In this Arcade tie-in to his recent movie, your pugilist hulk has clattering metal opponents to pulverize. As you enter the ring, you can choose from three types of robot, each of which can slowly earn the right (and cash) to replace its limbs and circuitry with a wide range of parts.
  • Pros: + Combat requires more strategy than most brawlers; lots of parts to unlock; 20 enemies to conquer.
  • Cons: - Terrible and inescapable rotate-the-analog-stick knockout-recovery mini-game., - Choose between grinding against the same opponents for what feels like forever or buying DLC gear., ? Is this the dark future of not-so-microtransactions?

  • Cons: Helvetisk spelkontroll, olidligt ovarierat, horribel DLC-lösning
