Summary: Can expect much from a 7 yr old game. It's from the same year the 360 was released. I enjoyed the game back then (I still have the original), but of course it can't hold a candle to the recent shooters. I gave it a medium rating cause it was good then, but lost points for the re-release. WHY?
Summary: By dated I mean its been out a long time so this game can't be compared with games released as of late. I've been playing nothing but great titles released as of late, so going back to this one was disappointing because when I played this at release it was amazing. Now its just mediocre. Like I say, you can't compare it with today, only titles 5 years ago.
Summary: I played the original game on PC years ago and i believe it was much better than this version. Its not a bad game, one of the disappointments is when you die you go WAY back and have to start over. The graphics aren't that good but the guns are decent.
Summary: Why even make a shooter that only one person can play? Only online games are multiplayer. What makes Halo and Call of Duty fun is having multiple players with you on your XBOX while you play either with them or online. Quake still lacks that ability.
Summary: This game is ok, but for the 360 platform there are so many better games out there. Call to Duty 4 for example. I bought this because I was a Quake fan, but the Graphics are just ok, and the game play is better suited for the keyboard.
Summary: Quake 4 continues the long running series, and ushers fast paced shooting action into the next generation. It succeeds in most areas, but falls short in quality in the most important ones. Review Breakdown Gameplay - Overall, the gameplay can be summed up in 3 words: fast paced shooting. You are usually constantly on the move kicking ass with awesome weapons, which are the games high point. There is a vast array of guns in Quake 4, more than enough to satisfy everyone.
Summary: I was really looking forward to this game considering how great Doom 3 and Doom 3 ROE were. Both of those games by ID kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire single player campaign. Quake 4 got me on the edge of my seat and then up out of my chair to remove it from my 360. This game is just plain boring. The Vehicles, The Missions and the Action are all very plain vanilla. It has no interesting story or gameplay to speak of either.
Conclusion: I've seen better, but being a limited number of 360 games at the moment, its ok. I played in hard mode and was challenging at times. Definitly a renter and not a buyer. Weapons are good with some wicked upgrades.
Conclusion: good to play in short bursts, as the game gets tedious very quickly. the puzzles are just irritating as you just want to shoot, not go back and forth getting lost in all these different corridors. graphics are good, but are basically slightly better than doom 3 wich isnt much on the 360.
