Prototype looked like it was going to be a hell of a lot of fun each and every time we saw it over its extended development, and it is fun, just not all the time. The combat can grate at times, the stealth elements grow tiresome quite quickly, and from time to time the game just doesn't know when to give you a break – there's so much going on that it's hard to see a way past a mission that's been sending Mercer to an early grave over and over again. There's plenty to... Read more

If most superheroes get their powers from a high-end superpowers boutique , you can be sure that Prototype’s Alex Mercer gets his from a thrift store. His abilities are the discarded, overstocked, defective leftovers from the stores where the rest of the superhero crew shops. He can glide but not fly , run up buildings but not down them, throw cars but not drive them, disguise himself as powerless citizens, and put to use countless other powers that other superheroes... Again, Prototype is not perfect, but it's a pretty good sandbox title that really makes you feel like you're as powerful as the game says you are. The mechanics are sound, but not rock-solid, the graphics are decent, though not great, and the carnage is excellent, though sometimes disorienting, especially with the less-than-stellar camera. But regardless of it's problems, the game still manages to be quite fun, and quite adrenaline-pumping. Now excuse me, I need to go... Read more

There have been a glut of superhero games that have come out in the past few years, so for any game to stand out from the crowd it needs to either have a really great license, such as X-Men and Spiderman, or needs to do something in a way that no other game has successfully done. Prototype is one of the latter. Read more

The second of two high-profile third-person "superhero" games hitting consoles at nearly the same time, Prototype from Radical Entertainment seems to have much in common with Sucker Punch's inFamous . However, after finishing both, it's clear to see that the focus of each game was different enough to give them unique identities despite appearing so similar at first glance. On the menu from Radical? Chaotic destruction and insane powers—double helpings of both. Read more

You know what? It is fun. As with any super-hero/ anti super-hero game, you can't look too hard at the realistic terms of plot etc. I have had hours upon hours of enjoyment with this game. I can never get enough of running up the Empire State Building while being chased by creatures from a Lovecraft universe. The timed events and missions are really not to write home about BUT......I have had pure enjoyment and frustration relief where I dont have to pay my Psychologist... Read more

This game was great. I love how you can hijack helicopters and tanks and just shoot and blow up other people. I like to run and pick up and throw vehicles at helicopters that are chaseing me. Consumeing people is good to. When you consume someone it raises your life then you can take on anything that stands in your way. You can upgrade your attacks and raise your life gauge longer buy using point's you get and just have fun destroying what stands in your way. I... Read more or see product

GTA, Hulk, Spiderman, Hancock(attitude), T2000, Spawn, all rolled into one. I could waste time with a drawn out review, but I think Mike S. covered it well. This is a definite buy, I played all night the 1st night, not typical for me. It is a challenge but, never frustrating. Read more
