A REVIEW FOR THE CASUAL GAMER
EMAN NEP, Amazon
28 April 2008
Summary: So you don't play sports video games usually? Then this is the review for you! I gave this game a spin when I saw it lying around the office and figured I'd give it a chance. So here's what I thought of it: GAMEPLAY: 3.5/5 -- As far as the basics go, it's thankfully intuitive. And the large button-map that shows during the load screen is a lifesaver! The AI (at least on beginner) automatically selects whatever player of yours is closest to the ball for you to control.
Summary: I may be bias to EA's FIFA games because I've been playing those things since I was 12 years of age but I decided to try the PES game. Honestly, I still love FIFA because it's the official FIFA game and has all the players/teams/etc. However, PES is ok but I would really rent it first before purchasing it. I don't think I will by another Konami PES game in the future because it's really simplistic and doesn't have all the FIFA players/teams.
Summary: I've been playing winning11 since 4 years ago on PS2 and it's by far the best soccer game out there. I've tried playing the newer versions of Fifa and they hav improved a lot since the old Fifa days but it's still no match for PES/WE11. In PES2008, you can expect the same buttons, gameplay, shots, passes, goalkeeping (still easy to score if u do lob shot) and dribbling.
Summary: Pro Evo 08 is better than 07, but Konami still has a lot of work to do. The gameplay is more realistic and discourages straight-up speed-soccer, which I like. The animations and player characters are much more realistic and detailed. They've re-instated the replay save feature and the jersey/team mod feature, which should have never been taken away in the first place. The Master League is more fleshed out and detailed as well.
Summary: After reading numerous reviews on the UK/AUS version over the past few months I was skeptical about this year's Winning Eleven/Pro Evo game. After playing it I can see where the criticism comes from. While the gameplay is still top notch, the replays are fairly choppy. I can't understand how they didn't fix this problem, seeing as how its not a internet connection dependent problem such as online play (which has also been barely playable at best on a cable internet...
Conclusion: Well what can i say where has it all gone wrong Konami?Terrible frame rate issues online and offline.Poor edit mode lack of stadiums.Far too easy to score even on high difficulty.Gameplay doesn`t quite seem right i. slide tackles seem a waste of time.Graphically its a letdown. It plays an o.k game of the football but the lag issues do seriously affect the gameplay.Come on Konami please sort this out
Conclusion: Me and my mate are FIFA fans admitally but this game excited us as we loved the new feature of being able to dive and that works well and rarely works but does heat up the compitition between mates especoially if it works (bout 1 / 10000000) chance lol Which si good we wouldnt want loads of unfair advantages.
