Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Xbox 360 Review
30 May 2010
Excerpt: They say football is a funny old game and when it comes to the battle between Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA we’d have to agree. To many, FIFA has always been playing catch up to Konami’s much cherished series, although even some of Pro Evo’s biggest fans have admitted that in recent years FIFA has made some very big and positive strides. Anyway we shouldn’t really compare them, so lets just say that we did very much enjoy this year’s FIFA..
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is certainly another improvement over PES6, and Konami has listened to the hoards of obsessive fans on the internet to fix up issues. Unfortunately online play is (so far) a disaster and minus a point from the overall score for the football game that managed to bamboozle the PS3 cell processor.
Excerpt: At the time of writing, Bolton Wanderers fans are in uproar over the impending appointment of the ever-popular Gary Megson and his whopping 7% winning percentage in the Premiership. Martin Jol has at last been relieved of his stay of execution with Spurs and there’s yet more talk of foreign takeovers to pump more cash into the game.
Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is The PES series has been around for years now, I being a fan since the Super Nintendo years. A few years ago the game was the best football game around without a question. But recently with so little improvements in all areas, games such as FIFA from EA sports have gained some reputation of being a better football game. And many fans expect this year to be the year in which EA’s game takes over the football scene.
Summary: I’ll hold my hands up, I fall onto the FIFA side of the fence in the PES vs. FIFA debate. Having enjoyed this year’s edition of FIFA, I was hoping that Konami would introduce something new into the game, but unfortunately there aren’t any major improvements in the game. However, that’s not a completely terrible thing, as the quick, fast-paced football game is still intact here, and is just as enjoyable as years past.
Pros: Easy to pick up and play., Players attributes work well., Score some cracking goals.
Cons: Online play is terrible., Still not fully licensed., Relatively easy to score.
Conclusion: Every gamer has a particular title that they look forward to more than any other and for most football fans that game is Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) . But with the previous 360 incarnation of PES lacking in new features, have Konami finally brought PES kicking and screaming to next generation consoles?
Conclusion: When you go to a Games Convention like Leipzig it is hard to not have a particular title that you can't wait to get your hands on. For me like most avid football fanatics it was Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 or PES . With last years version being a disappointment for most fans of the series have Konami upped their game to finally bring the beautiful game to next generation systems in its entirety?
