Summary: A good strategy game with many, many potential hours of enjoyment. Trade routes seemed either a lot of work or a bit of logical guesswork. Just a few clues(nautical term, in origin) that might assist, in that regard: Capitol Cities and one for every point of the map; N,S,E,W(5 total). Find fast ships for these routes, to outrun the pirates. Speed is indicated in knots, depicted by a picture of an actual knot of rope pic/icon, while in ship info sub-display. Enjoy.
Summary: Very fun game! It has a different pace than most pirate games, which concentrate on swordplay or naval battles. This game is more like sim city or tropico in how you have to manage economies and trade between cities.
Summary: Its almost like tropico. The object is to control everything and make money. They could've made it a lot better with a few things. They just missed the mark. Also I bought an add-on you can't play it longer than 10 min & it freezes. I suggest if you like strategy games get it. If you're looking for action this isn't the game for you. I like it because I'm obsessed with World Domination.
Summary: Lets get one thing straight. This game isn't for everybody. That said, i'm enjoying every moment of this gem as it forces me to think constantly. Its not a pick up and play either; the manual alone took me over 2 1/2 hours to study as opposed to just reading it. Playing this has occupied a sizeable chunk of my life so far, but it's been an educational chunk, teaching me about the principles of demand & supply and about life in the colonial caribbean.
Summary: I should not have waited this long to get this game, It has been so much addicting fun. Perhaps it is not for everyone, but if you like games about empire building, trading, and tactics in general, this is a solid game. The trading aspect of the game is very customizable, albeit it takes some time and practice to master them. I found myself thinking "Why can't I make a certain setting this way?!?!
