Excerpt: In Pid, Kurt is riding an interplanetary school bus when falls asleep during the long ride home. Unceremoniously dropped off on the wrong planet by the bus driver, he naturally wants to catch the next bus and get home. Unfortunately, the nearest bus stop hasn't seen a bus in years, but a local suggests heading to the big city and finding a bus there. And this is where our hero's journey begins.
Excerpt: Pid was a beautiful yet recognizable experience. This indie game is yet another 2-D puzzle-platformer game, which involves well-timed jumps, precise strategies and a critical thinking in order to successfully beat this game. Pid is not some groundbreaking game, but it is good at what it does. The story centers around this little space kid who got lost while traveling on the space train.
Conclusion: If it wasn't for these frustrating moments, Pid would be a lovely mix of puzzles and platforming, making you challenge and engage your brain. Missing the bus should be the most frustrating thing you experience, but unfortunately it's not, meaning Pid is just one stop short of something great.
Summary: The next time your grandfather tries to shame you with all that talk about how he once had to trudge through 10 miles of snow just to get home from school, you could try countering him with the tale of poor little Kurt from Pid. For Kurt, heading home entails abandoning the safety of Earth, taking a spaceship that trades off passengers as often as a city bus, and at last making his way across a troubled planet just to reach the next bus stop.
Pros: Gravity-based beam mechanic allows for creative puzzles, Charming art style and eclectic soundtrack, Secret rooms and discoverable tools encourage exploration
Cons: Excessively brutal difficulty, particularly in boss fights, Cooperative mode prevents drop-in, drop-out gameplay
Excerpt: Pid tells the story of Kurt, a small boy who must make his way back home after he gets separated from his classmates and ends up on an unknown planet. What he doesn’t realize is that the planet is in distress and finding its salvation is his only means home. Pid’s charming worlds draw you in, but their demanding mechanics of classic platforms make them equally as strenuous to play.
Pros: Inventive puzzles and level design, Moving narrative, Powerful and clever soundtrack
Cons: Strenuous difficulty, Frustrating health system, Lack of drop-in/drop-out co-op
Excerpt: Pid is one of those odd-duck indie games that thrives in the quirky landscape of the XBLA Marketplace. A weirdly polite 2D platformer from Swedish developer Might and Delight, it puts you in the short pants of Kurt, a schoolboy stranded on a strange planet after falling asleep on an intergalactic schoolbus.
Pros: + Innovative light-beam mechanic allows for more freedom in puzzle-solving., + Gently eccentric style and atmosphere.
Cons: ? Why was there a boss battle with a flying robot headwaiter again?
Summary: Everything about Pid screams subtlety, it really does. From the opening title screen, there is no flashy graphics or splash screens, just simple a simple downplayed menu. It is a theme that carries on throughout the game, emphasising on the little things, to guide you through the game.
