Review: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

New Gamer Nation
23 July 2012
  • Conclusion: In the end, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is indeed a very fun game. For $10, the game makes the most of what it is: an entertaining game. It is worth the money, and whether it’s the leader boards or the addictive gameplay, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX will keep gamers coming back for more. It reminds gamers why the classic arcade games were so great and at the same time adds very welcome new twists to the gameplay.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Review

VideoGamer.com
3 June 2011
  • Excerpt: Wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka. WAKKA. Okay, I've got it out of my system: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, then. For a start, no it's not just Pac-Man. The hungry little three-quarters of a pie-chart is up to his same old tricks - wolfing down stuff like fruit, keys and enemy ghosts - but in some very fancy new clothes.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (XBLA)

Video Game Generation
2 April 2011
  • Summary: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX does an admirable job of taking a classic arcade game from the early days and adding a novel, not unwelcome twist to the proceedings. You can go the traditional route and just play for a high score, or challenge yourself against your own best time. Either way, if you’re not too locked in to the classic template (some might see this sort of thing as sacrilege!) you’re likely to have fun here.
  • Pros: Strange, yet interesting take on an old favorite.  Closest parallel would be, Super Pac-Man, Chock full of levels to beat and challenges to face., A whole sh**load of ghosts.  This game is HAUNTED!
  • Cons: Well, it’s strange, and rather easy by comparison.  Bombs?  Slowing down time so you can escape?  Wish we had that back in the arcades, we’d all have saved a lot of quarters!

Pac-Man Championship Edition Deluxe Game Accessibility Review

ablegamers.com
15 February 2011
  • Excerpt: I can only hope that we have all played at least one iteration of traditional Pac-Man in our lives. He and his wife are two of the biggest gaming icons in history. Pac-Man Championship Edition came out for XBLA in 2007 and added a new spin onto the classic Pac-Man we all knew and loved. Now we have the deluxe version of that game and I can say without hyperbole that this is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've ever had.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

Thunderbolt Games
29 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Pac-Man, gaming’s most recognized hero, has been gobbling up pellets and ghosts for three decades now, so there isn’t a more fitting holiday release than Pac-Man Championship Edition DX . But this isn’t the Pac-Man that your parents might remember, a box set of classics slapped with a “did it really cost them this much to re-release this?” price tag.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

Total Xbox
18 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Chomping dots and plodding around haunted 2D hedge mazes with an animated pie chart sounds positively quaint, but this retro revamp sure isn’t the videogame nursing home you might expect. In fact, it’s the opposite: a cranked-up and damn near hypnotic high-energy sprint across a flashy, ever-shifting psychedelic racetrack. The play modes are really just timed scoring contests and races to clear the board, but don’t let the seeming simplicity throw you.
  • Pros: + Fast-paced, marvelously addictive race to lure and avoid armies of colorful ghosts., + Simple but really fun new gameplay features., + Attractive collection of trance-inducing maps, course variations, and visual skins.
  • Cons: ? Can we get a Ms. Pac-Man Championship Edition right now?

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Xbox 360 Review

DarkZero
19 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is one of the better time-sinks released on XBLA this year, with sufficient scope to entertain for a five minute game, but equally challenging enough to keep players toiling away for a couple of hours should they so wish. It may be very much a single player experience, but as long as you have a few friends on your leaderboard to battle against, it can easily evolve into an obsession.
