Summary: Nier is simply breathtaking in scope, in art, in music...in every way. The characters are beautifully realized, and the acting top-notch; some of the best I've heard, well, ever. I don't want to get into the details, because this one is very special, and one should enter its world with a blank slate. Don't trust ANYONE'S review, just try it out for yourself.
Summary: I play video games for their story and here is my top five now that I've finished Nier: 1. Xenogears 2. Xenosaga series 3. Nier 4. Planescape: Torment 5. Final Fantasy X This game is a MASTERPIECE when it comes to the story and never have I seen a game tell its story the way Nier does. Basically you play through the game, then have the opportunity to play through it again.
Summary: I am a a huge fan of RPGs and this JRPG is just beautiful. The storyline is a bit different from the japanese version in reference to the big brother turned cool dad figure but don't let the missing bishie stop you. The father relationship in the game adds to the tragedy of the story. And the Storyline is amazing, plotted with twists and amazing details. It is an almost guarantee emotional roller coaster ride that will lead the player to a couple tears here and there.
Summary: The story and gameplay get dull after just a few hours. The game's concept is great, but the execution is poor. Very repetitive, bland environments, bad voice acting. Really glad I did not pay full price for this when it came out.
Summary: I'm going to make this short and sweet: 1) The combat is not revolutionary, but it's at least entertaining 2) The story is MASSIVELY in-depth, and extremely sad. And while I never played a sad game before, it made me happy to play it. 3) The game comes with replayability as well: every new playthrough is a different ending and add more context to events to game, up to 4 different endings. 3a) And yes, every new playthrough just makes every event more depressing.
Summary: The story is fun in this grind of an Action RPG. The beginning sequence is a little bit of a let down but, once you get into the game proper and begin to wander around the town and then into the world you may get sucked in. The whole fighting mechanics are a little clunky and the graphics even on release weren't really up to standard. The quests and story may keep you going for awhile through this game though/.
