NHL 11 – Review (360, PS3)

mature-gaming.com
7 September 2013
  • Excerpt: I remember it as if it were yesterday, you know. The year when the skillstick system was introduced to the EA Sports Hockey franchise and you just knew it was going to take you a few years to fully appreciate just how good it could be, providing you’re over 30 and know for a fact that someone half your age got it licked before they sat their exams. Yes, it has taken a while for me to really get to grips with the new control method.

NHL 11

  • Excerpt: If you enjoy sports video games then you know who EA Sports is. They are the monolith in the room because they have built some fantastic franchises over the years. Hockey fans will be very interested in NHL 11. There is a lot of hype surrounding NHL 11. Does it live up to it? I hope this review will answer that question for you. The catch phrase of this game is: "Any Moment Can Be A Wow Moment." That is quite a statement for any video game to make.

Zombie Infection HD

Square-Go
1 January 2011
  • Excerpt: The first thing you’ll probably think of on playing Zombie Infection HD is the Resident Evil series. Despite Resident Evil HD having the better graphics of the two, it doesn’t have the better controls, since Zombie Infection doesn’t use the move or shoot method favoured by Resident Evil titles. That said, the game has its own control issues, due to button locations. Essentially, the game is using the controls Gameloft had for N.O.V.A.

Expert Review

Game Informer
26 December 2010
  • Summary: NHL 11 pits brains versus brawn, and it’s brawn that wins. But it’s not just about getting cross-checked in the face – the game’s physicality offers hits of all sizes, whether you’re forechecking, clogging the neutral zone, or playing defense. The new physics engine also allows the puck to move more realistically when not on players’ sticks. However, the game could be smarter.

True achievements

  • Conclusion: This year, teams are able to customize NHL and EA generated jerseys for their teams, as well as be able to practice with the team without computers. Just make sure you don't take a run at someone from behind in an OTP or EASHL league game, because you could get a 5 minute major and be forced to watch the rest of the game from overhead thanks to the misconduct rule implemented.

The best, most authentic (has fights) hockey game available.

Common Sense Media
24 December 2010
  • Summary: Parents need to know that NHF 11 is a straightforward simulation of the National Hockey League. Players focus on guiding a team to Stanley Cup glory or choosing one budding rookie and lead him to Hall of Fame status. The sport is physical, and features fighting. During a game, players can start a brawl with an opponent any time, although fights results in stiff penalties.

  • Excerpt: After a long hot summer the annual Canadian pastime is once again rumbling itself awake. The mild evening breeze has begun to turn cool, and here in Vancouver the rain arrives with little fanfare. Also in Vancouver, Burnaby B.C. to be exact, EA Canada has been quietly preparing the newest incarnation of its highly popular and excellent NHL series, NHL 11. One would think after NHL 10 you couldn’t do much more to an already fantastic game.
