XBLA Review - 'Anomaly: Warzone Earth'

WorthPlaying
15 May 2012
  • Summary: Anomaly: Warzone Earth, at its core, is an arcade approach to the real-time-strategy genre. You have the heat of an RTS battle raging around you, as you find yourself in the middle it all, supporting your squad, issuing orders, changing tactics when the situation forces you to do so.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth (Xbox360)

EL33TONLINE
25 April 2012
  • Excerpt: Near the beginning of the year, I did what any responsible gamer should do and supported the Humble Bundle game collection in recognition of all those late nights and caffeine binges endured by independent game developers. Little did I know then that I’d be treated to such a wealth of creative and novel games. One such game was Anomaly: Warzone Earth which has now made its way into the annals of Xbox Live as a downloadable Arcade game.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth

The Gamers Temple
26 March 2011
  • Excerpt: Anomaly: Warzone Earth may be a tower defense game, but a more accurate description of it would be to call it a "tower offense" game. Alien ships land on Earth and encase themselves in mysterious energy zones and make a few tentative hostile moves. Rather than waiting to see what develops, military forces attempt to infiltrate the domes and immediately run into an elaborate defense system of weapons towers protecting what lies at the core of the domes.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth

True achievements
25 January 2011
  • Conclusion: The minimal story, inability to choose what enemy your unit fires at, as well as the fairly short amount of time it takes to finish. Overall, though, the excellent concept, range of strategies and relative challenge makes this game well worth 800 of Microsoft's finest points. Don't miss out on this one.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Thunderbolt Games
25 January 2011
  • Excerpt: 2010 has been an excellent year for racing games and the hits just keep on coming. With Split/Second and Blur holding down the front end of the year, Sony has alleged that Gran Turismo 5 actually exists in a completed form (I won’t believe it until I actually hold the game in my hands, though).

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Review

PlayDevil
17 December 2010
  • Summary: " Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit " is a fantastic return to form for Need for Speed, but it’s not a perfect game. Hot Pursuit mode, autolog, the graphics, and sense of speed are just brilliant, but the most important aspect of all, the handling, is a bit of a marmite approach that will put some people right off.
