Too much junk

M. Rupp, Amazon
7 April 2009
  • Summary: I have owned NCAA 09 for a couple days now and there has already been some big problems I've had with it. For one, after I scored a touchdown the announcers acted as though the opposing team had scored and then I received the ball again on a kickoff that was supposed to be for the other team.

Rent First

My Opinion, Amazon
7 April 2009
  • Summary: Awful. I believe that this is what EA deems a revolution in gaming: tweak the graphics, offer (stupid) minigames like bowling, and provide the ability to play as mascots. I completely agree with the other reviews regarding the lack of defense.

fun but nothing great

David Mercer, Amazon
7 April 2009
  • Summary: If you have played NCAA before this year then you know how this works. In fact you have played this game before, it is the same game that it has been the past couple years with few exceptions.

Changes Make it Almost Unplayable

Alexander P. Boyko, Amazon
7 April 2009
  • Summary: I have been buying the NCAA football games for the past 7 years and always enjoyed each year's new edition. However, after playing NCAA 09, I am sorely disappointed and am ready to sell it. There are two major problems with the game that make it pretty much unplayable on defense.

Unrealistic AI, poor gameplay

Deb Ryan, Amazon
7 April 2009
  • Summary: Poor AI and gameplay: the CPU pass offense is unstoppable even when you adjust the sliders. The AI QB will complete 80% of his passes, and the only incompletions are the interceptions which are all too common. Don't expect the CPU to run the ball much either.

Its still just OKAY.

Eric S. Maat, Amazon
20 November 2008
  • Summary: The game is still just ok. It has never been the same since the transition from NCAA football 07 on xbox to xbox 360. The controls changed on 360, the recruiting changed and got so ridiculous that its near impossible to get the recruit you want, even if he has your school as his number 1 pick of...

ajjay, Metacritic
2 August 2008
  • Summary: This could have been a great game, had EA bothered to put it through QC testing. The graphics are very, very nice looking. However, this years edition has more bugs than ever, and that's saying something. Major things are broken. Tacklers should actually try to tackle the ball carrier, right?

Got defense? This game sure doesn't.

Matthew Aldieri "ttamdla", Amazon
2 August 2008
  • Summary: For a third straight year the idiots at EA have once again failed to produce a worthwile college football game. This year the biggest issue is that defense has been left entirely out of the game. The defensive secondary and the defensive line are basically a nonfactor in the game.

Not For The Football Purists

J. Edinger, Amazon
27 July 2008
  • Summary: I love football, been a fan for 20 years. I've played Madden and College football for over a decade so I know how its supposed to look and play. First off NCAA '09 looks great and moves great. The animation is top-notch, I'm always noticing little touches, beautiful for most part.

JohnB., Metacritic
25 July 2008
  • Summary: I love the NCAA Football series. I've long preferred it to Madden. I love the atmosphere, the game to game pressure to win, the option offenses, all that. That's why this version of the game is such a monumental disappointment.
