Summary: You know the graphics are really good and so is the gameplay but the controls kill the fun. They're way to difficult and the crossover moves are very hard to execute. I don't mind playing against a friend but playing against the computer is kinda frustrating and hard. The dunk contest isn't so bad except the controls are hard to figure out.
Summary: The bad: Very similar in gameplay to 2K8, but it seems like like 2K Sports made it harder to rebound and defend in general. The AI defense is terrible in my opinion and only a few star players (Dwight Howard, Yao Ming, Tim Duncan and a few others) can consistently play good defense in the paint. I hope for the 2010 version they can really work on defense. Oh and one more thing - is it just me or is it impossible to win the three point shootout?
Summary: iv been a fan of 2k Basketball since the dreamcast days and LOVED NBA2K5, as it was possibly the Best basketball game i had ever played. it gave you almost Ultimate control over your players Dribbling abilites and made the game Very realistic. but since 2k5, this game has not really Grown or done anything Dramatically Different to Improve on itself. infact, its kind of Gone backwords. and note, i have played NBA2K5, 6, 7, AND 8.
Summary: I have had this game now for a couple of months and word can express how frustrated I am with the gameplay. The Good: The game looks nice graphically and animates really well, it's smooth. The flow of the game is almost like watching a real game and the developers paid attention to detail well. It seems like there's always something different a player does whether it be a dribble move, layup, or dunk. From an offensive stand point the game is great.
Summary: if they fix the live gaming this will be the best game to play with friends over XBL, just imagine 5 versus 5!
Pros: excellente game with awesome graphics. extremely fun to play with friends over XBL(when it works)
Cons: reason i gave this game 3 eggs is for the annoying live experience. it takes alot of tries to get a game going and you eventually end up having to reset the Xbox because it will freeze for trying alot.
Summary: My first review of NBA 2K9 resulted in a 5 / 5 review; however after playing more games I begin to notice problems with the game. For that reason I decided to rewrite and re-rate my review of the game. NBA 2K9 is the third year in a row in which I bought 2K's basketball game; and for good reason. Year after year 2K has proved that that they know (and care) about producing quality, realistic basketball simulations.
