I’ve never been the biggest fan of basketball games, but 2K Sports’ titles usually win me over long enough to play through an entire season. It’s much improved from last year, but the real draw is Living Rosters and it remains to be seen how it will compete with EA’s Dynamic DNA. But I give this one my seal of approval and recommend you pick it up. Read more

If you haven’t picked up the past two 2K games, or are traditionally a NBA LIVE fan looking for something new, then you will not be sorry that you checked out what you have been missing out on. Otherwise you may be disappointed in how little has really changed, and all the small differences in gameplay really don’t amount to a sixty dollar purchase. Read more

The NBA 2K series has a lot in common with the San Antonio Spurs. They’re both consistently competitive no matter who pops up to challenge them. They’re also proven winners. The 2K series has been the undisputed basketball champion since at least 2005, while the Spurs have won four NBA championships since 1999. Both of them suffered slight setbacks last season, but these setbacks weren't enough to take them out of the game.

    • Layups go in this year and gameplay is tight., Team Up mode is tons of fun., Association mode is deeper than ever.
    • Online servers need to be fixed right away., No groundbreaking gameplay modes., Commentary needs an overhaul.

    • Outstanding looks and gameplay; lockdown defense changed for better; new level of crowd excitement and energy; excellent franchise mode.
    • NBA Blacktop doesn't measure up; highlight segments a bit choppy; TV presentation is disappointing.

One of the strongest aspects is that the game will track how you are as a teammate—not only your key offensive stats, but also how you help the other players on your team. All that will add to a “team rating” that you have, and having a good ranking will make you more desirable to other players. Read more

Most of NBA 2K9 is awesome, but you’ve really got to want to learn how to play the game and get in-depth with the game. Spend enough time with it and you’ll get the hang of it enough. But, it’s a steep learning curve and those not willing to give the game its due time will get turned off rather quickly. Plus, the computer AI is relentless, they don’t miss shots and they punish you for your foolish mistakes. Read more

NBA 2K9 is a solid basketball experience through and through. While the competition is still in a rebuilding process of sorts, 2K has taken advantage by improving on what they’ve accomplished in their NBA series throughout recent years. Anyone who has enjoyed the last couple of installments won’t be disappointed with the changes made this year. The Living Rosters feature is certainly enticing enough for 2K fans to pick this title up. Read more

NBA 2K9 review Game Over Online - http://www.game-over.com EA Sports and 2K Sports have become bitter rivals since 2K joined the craziness that is basketball video gaming a few years back. The last few years have seen 2K Sports at the top of the leaderboard, achieving unanimously higher ratings than EA's NBA Live series. This year is no different, with NBA 2K9 being the go-to performer on the virtual basketball court. Read more

This game is proof 2K Sports knows what it's doing one of my favorite features is that when you signal for an alley-oop even if you don't complete the oop you can get a sweet backdoor layup the only complaint I have is there is no option to turn off the salary cap like in Madden would be cool to have no budget constraints but overall a terrific game. This game is one of those games that you can play over and over again and each time you do you will find a different reason why you love it. The game obviously revolves around the NBA (National Basketball Association) in America and features all the 30 teams and full rosters for each. The main gameplay mode in this game is called the Association mode. What this entails is taking your favorite team along an NBA journey. Read more

Overall, I'd say this game is great, and I'd recommend getting it if you are interested in playing a good basketball game. If you are looking to save some money, it might not be a bad idea to get one of the old NBA 2K series, such as NBA 2k6 or NBA 2K7. Often times, there are online roster updates, so you can have the NBA's latest rosters, even with an older game. Read more

This probably is a great basketball game, but it's massively unforgiving for beginners: No tutorials, no explanation of terms or tactics, it just drops you straight into whichever game mode you select and leaves you to find your own way. Not knowing much, I ended up in a big mess not scoring much (and not knowing why) but giving up a lot of fouls (and not knowing why). So... not for beginers. Read more

    Answered by nilufer2 2009-03-31:

It is better to play association first than season game. You can go to the game's mode to start the season

    Answered by MrHarry 2009-07-31:

Once you are done on the playground, you have a couple of more indoor modes to attack. The season mode is standard, allowing up to eight players and an optional fantasy draft to kick the season
