Nascar Unleashed

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: It is interesting when a franchise gets moved from one video game publisher to another. EA Sports churned out some great Nascar games over the years. So I was interested in seeing how Activision would do. Sadly their game is nowhere near the quality of EA’s games. I could sugar coat it, but I see no reason to. Our EIC encourages us to tell it like it is. Nascar Unleashed is the worst Nascar game I have ever played.

Kart racer is decent but encourages reckless driving.

Common Sense Media
8 April 2012
  • Summary: Parents need to know that NASCAR Unleashed is a kart-racing game that allows players to bump other cars, knock them into obstacles along the course, and even force them to crash out of the competition. Players can play the game alone or against a friend in split-screen head-to-head competition using two controllers.  Xbox players with an Internet connection (and Xbox LIVE account) can connect to the leaderboards.

NASCAR Unleashed

oxmonline.com
9 November 2011
  • Excerpt: Don’t let the name fool you: this new arcade racer has about as much in common with America’s premier stock-car series as oversweetened Kool-Aid has with an award-winning microbrew. After a few sips, you’ll want to wash your palette clean. The game’s NASCAR licensing — including 15 drivers and a half-dozen tracks — lends it a modicum of authenticity, but Unleashed doesn’t even try to capture the sport’s wheel-to-wheel dynamic.
  • Pros: + It'll set you back only $40.
  • Cons: ? How hard is it to script some decent (and varied) background commentary?
