Excerpt: I have enjoyed plenty of arcade video game collections in the past. Namco Museum Virtual Arcade on the Xbox 360 is a decent compilation of arcade games from the past. These older games are generally safer for the family, but there is one drawback I am beginning to see. I have played many of these games over and over again from one console generation to another. I am starting to question how many times I can play the same arcade games.
Summary: Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade features hits from Namco Bandai Games' Xbox Live Arcade library including Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Pac-Man Championship Edition and Mr. Driller Online, as well as 20 additional newly arranged versions of various classics.
Summary: Namco Museum has found its way onto many of the major systems in the past decade, but never the 360. With the success of XBLA and especially the Namco games on it, I didn’t think one would surface on the console, but it has. Namco Bandai has come out with a great mix of games for their 360 debut of the series, many of which probably won’t be seen on any virtual console anytime soon.
Conclusion: When it comes to classic video games, if you haven't heard about it, there's probably a good reason for it, as there are few old games that are unknown and excellent. With Namco's long history though, they can boast a few of them, with several titles in this collection likely to catch players by surprise.
Conclusion: Everyone loves a little classic gaming, and with Namco Museum Virtual Arcade, you get more than just a little. With 34 games in all, it’s easy to forgive the ten or twelve that are merely throwaway material; and while they’ve been released time and time again over the years, this is by far the largest and most affordably-priced collection of Namco arcade titles to date.
Excerpt: Retro Compilation Another seven chances to play fucking Pac-Man. For a company like Namco, which has the morals of any alley cat, this compilation offers surprisingly good value. Unfortunately, that’s the only surprise on offer as what we have here is what must be Namco’s fifteenth anthology piece. Yep, stock up on ProPlus and energy drinks and get ready to play Pole Position yet again.
