Mirror's Edge Pure Time Trial Map Pack Review

VideoGamer.com
11 February 2014
  • Excerpt: When we reviewed EA and DICE's Mirror's Edge late last year we made it quite clear that the platforming made it a success. It wasn't for everyone, but if it clicked you had the best first-person platformer ever, and a game that allowed the dedicated few to set times way above the competition.

mature-gaming.com
7 September 2013
  • Excerpt: Just when you thought games were getting a bit formulaic and boring, along come a few to brighten up your days and put some faith back into gaming again. Top of the pile and one of the most talked about games over the last few months is Mirror’s Edge by EA. Mirror’s Edge is based in a city which is heavily overlooked by big brother.

Mirror's Edge (Xbox 360)

ccgr.org
27 March 2013
  • Excerpt: EA isn't one to take a whole lot of chances with their game production, as they usually stick with standard-issue shooter, sport, and racing games. They took a huge leap with Dead Space 1, 2, and 3, and they took just as big of a leap of "Faith" with this title, based entirely on the art of Parkour and pure, simple speed. Mirror's Edge is an amazing game all around, but its short story and lack of bonus content hold it back from the stellar game it could have been.
  • Pros: Free-running is fun and fast paced; voice-acting is well done; graphics are beautiful; story is engaging
  • Cons: Bugs hinder smooth free-running; incredibly short; no replay value; odd sounding weapons

Mirror's Edge (Xbox 360)

ablegamers.com
4 August 2011
  • Excerpt: DICE has become quite prominent as a developer due to the Battlefield series which features console classics like Bad Company and Bad Company 2. However, Mirror’s Edge, released in 2008, has apparently also influenced a fair amount of people, especially given the implementation of free running (also known as parkour) elements and the antiseptic, sterile styling of certain maps in Brink.

Game Over Online
9 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Ninja Theory, the minds behind the gorgeous Heavenly Sword (one of the PlayStation 3’s launch titles), have taken a genre that’s been used and abused for years now and turned it on its head. It may be hard to believe but apparently, games that take place years after something destroyed civilization actually don’t have to look so damn depressing.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Game Over Online
9 November 2010
  • Excerpt: At first glance Enslaved: Odyssey to the West’s post-apocalyptic plot might turn away some players, but unlike the dreary brown and grey colored action games like Gears of War, Enslaved is a vibrant, beautiful and consistently stunningly realized world that manages to breathe new life into the ailing ‘post-apocalyptic’ genre.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Review

PlayDevil
3 November 2010
  • Summary: " Enslaved: Odyssey to the West " is a flawed epic. The story, the voice acting, and the action is second to none. However, the immersion is brought down by some occasionally dodgy animation, camera angles and the dreadful FMV sequences. It’s a shame, because if Ninja Theory had a bit more time or budget, this would be game of the year, easily.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

ActionTrip
28 October 2010
  • Conclusion: Enslaved is a decent start of a new game franchise and is an important step for the development team to see if they can reach new heights with a potential sequel (which I hear is already starting to shape).
  • Pros: It's a beautiful, fun and engaging adventure with a lot of action and a few puzzles neatly tucked in, great atmosphere, solid voice acting;
  • Cons: Combat gets a bit repetitive, enemies and battles in general need more variety, we really missed co-op in this one.
