  • Cons: It's not clever or funny, Running and gunning is miserably unambitious, Mostly copies other games

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond

Gamer Limit

  • Conclusion: This is a game that doesn't take itself too seriously, and manages to be both fun and funny half the time. However, the other half is always there to remind you that this is a mediocre affair.

  • Excerpt: Retro is in. Just ask the developers behind the upcoming Mega Man 10 , which revels in its 8-bit nostalgic appeal, or Shadow Complex which mixes old school gameplay with cutting edge visuals. Seeing as how everything old is new again – Matt Hazard’s newest faux adventure should be a hit right? Not so fast.

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond - 360 - Review

GameZone
12 January 2010
  • Excerpt: Like an old man sitting on his porch, Matt Hazard can’t stop thinking about the good old days. He reminisces about them constantly, interjecting decent (sometimes hilarious) jokes and awful one-liners whenever possible. One day, when a strange occurrence threatens to erase his world and everything he knows about 8-bit gaming, Matt Hazard is lucky enough to get caught in the middle, blasting his way through the past like all of it was new again.

Expert Review

GameSpot
8 January 2010
  • Summary: The Matt Hazard series of games is built on the premise that even the most popular franchises are not sacred cows. Considering that the industry frequently takes itself quite seriously, the idea of lampooning all that is dear has a certain charm to it. However, as noble as Matt Hazard's motives may be, the games in which he stars fall far short of their goal.
  • Pros: Cooperative play is a good time, Higher difficulties offer plenty of challenge
  • Cons: Parodies are uninspired, Less than two hours long, $15 is way too expensive, Co-op play is offline only

Matt Hazard : Blood Bath And Beyond

Tom's Games
8 January 2010
