  • Summary: BioWare’s latest RPG epic is finally upon us, but has Mass Effect been worth the wait? Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Yeeeesssss. Not only does it look and sound incredible, but it also has a great story and offers some of the best role playing elements of any game yet. The combat isn’t quite on the same level of quality as other aspects of the game, but it is still plenty good enough to make Mass Effect one of the best games on the Xbox 360.

Madden NFL 07 Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: It may be old hat, but Madden NFL 07 for the last-gen Xbox shows new dogs some old tricks. The core gameplay elements of this SKU are down-pat, which makes the extra features such as Superstar mode that much more enjoyable. I can overlook the lack of online leagues or dazzling graphics for a stout basic foundation, which this title certainly has. Madden NFL 07 is proof positive that the last-gen Xbox is still alive and kicking.

Mass Effect

The Gamers Temple
28 October 2008
  • Excerpt: Mass Effect was one of the “big three” new IP’s Microsoft has counted on, as far back as before the launch of the 360, to make their new console the clear winner this generation (I said “new,” Halo doesn’t count). The other two were Gears of War and BioShock, and look how well those turned out; both games have lea the list of awards their respective years of release.

Mass Effect

Strategy Informer
19 October 2008
  • Conclusion: In the end Mass Effect does carry some imperfections like bugs, glitches, texturing popping, some sound volume quirks and often laborious exploration in the MAKO but even after all that BioWare still has one mega-fantastic (yes, it’s a word) game here. The depth of the story, the quality of the cinematic styled dialogue and events, the brilliant scores of music that litter throughout – all build up an unforgettable immersion and by the end I was near grief-stricken that...

  • Conclusion: Bottom line, this game is not the second coming. It doesn't live up to the hype in the way some hoped it might (and really, which overhyped game does). But, this is truly an evolutionary step in BioWare's development of single-player RPGs. I sure do miss the Star Wars panache, but as it is, Mass Effect is a title you'll want to own on the 360.
  • Pros: Unbelievable emotional depth given to the appearance of characters, story, combat system, interesting moral dilemmas which finally transcend the most obvious choices between our notions of good and evil;
  • Cons: Side quests and their locales too generic, some bad voice acting, occasional bugs, Bioware's proprietary world doesn't appear imaginative and compelling enough, needed more cool "spells" later in the game.

  • Excerpt: Bioware’s last Xbox title was the huge cult favourite Star Wars: The Knights of the Old Republic, a game that was an instant favorite for tons of Star Wars junkies all over. For those unaware Bioware is also known for hits like Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights. Fans of the gifted developer have been anxiously awaiting their next big title, Mass Effect.
