  • Summary: This game is disappointing after having played the first two Mass Effect games. The controls feel horrible. You keep getting stuck to walls in single player and even worse in multiplayer. The ending was so bad that a new one had to be released and downloaded afterwards. You can only fight against computer enemies in multiplayer, you can't fight against real people. Most of the weapons will never be used because they are too much alike.

The Lesser of Three Parts

Tyler A., Newegg
24 April 2012
  • Summary: I had no choice but to buy this game and finish the series, but if it was a standalone title, I would have waited for it to drop to less than $20...and from the way things look...it's dropping pretty quickly.
  • Pros: Its a Mass Effect game, great gameplay, strong story elements, hours of entertainment. The online play is really fun and not just an "add on"
  • Cons: Brings nothing new to the table. Feels rushed and is the least of the three games in the series proceeded by ME and ME2 (being the best). The ending was terrible and pretty much ensured I won't be playing this game again even though I have played ME and ME2 multiple times. Also, the DLC is really overpriced.

Product not as Described

Scott, Amazon
10 April 2012
  • Summary: I'll start by saying I wish there was a 2.5 in the ratings because maybe half the game is good. Spoilers obviously. I could get into a laundry list of things that are bad in the game but I'll just generalize it. The story is full of plot holes so its maybe best to say what was good and you can assume the rest. First off The Krogan genophage story arc was done very well and took your actions in the last 2 games into account, it had a sad ending but it was good.

Great Game, Very Poor Ending

Anonymous, Newegg
23 March 2012
  • Summary: If you are looking to play an incredibly fun Action/RPG, than this game is for you. However, if you want to play this game for the story I would highly recommend that you spend your money elsewhere, it depends on what you are looking for in a game.
  • Pros: First off I have to say that BioWare and EA did a great job with balancing the Action/RPG elements of the game which, for me, made it a very enjoyable game to play. Also, I felt that the story line was really good, up until the last five minutes.
  • Cons: I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it broke my love for the Mass Effect Universe. I have spent over $250 (The three games + downloadable content) and hundreds of hours to perfect my three separate characters in preparation of Mass Effect 3, and I can't even bring my self to play though it a second time, because the ending was that bad. It left me confused, with tons of unanswered questions, and a desire for closure. The ending of Mass Effect 3 had no clear Pa...

A Great game, Followed by one of the worst endings in history.

tfkr3w, Ebay
18 March 2012
  • Summary: An amazing game, tainted by the last 10 minutes. Ruins everything that the series stood for and more. You become invested in a game that you emotionally attach to the characters and to your decisions. Fortunately the game up till that point is great. Multiplayer is fun at first but not something I could ever see myself playing 1 month from now. Movies like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings don't leave a series on a poor note."IMO".

Gameplay's Great, Choices Don't Matter

Amazon Customer, Amazon
16 March 2012
  • Summary: The good: Gameplay is excellent, powers have more, better choices. Easier to use squad combos on the fly (although I did see squadmates running headlong out of cover a lot more than I was comfortable with). Some riveting story for 95% of the game. Multiplayer is fantastic when you're not teamed with all krogan or vanguards trying to melee everything (guess what, that's why you die so fast!).

for ME fans - a big letdown

Anonymous, Newegg
16 March 2012
  • Summary: If you're looking for a FPS with a little bit of RPG thrown in and don't care for developing characters and solid storytelling, this game will probably be satisfying. If you do enjoy the RPG experience and are a fan of the ME series as a whole, the ending can be a massive downer. If you still would like to play it but don't want to pay full price, I suggest waiting a few weeks to purchase a used copy. The game is steadily dropping in price.
  • Pros: 95% of the game is fun; effectively builds up tension. Player gets to travel to various new and old locations in the galaxy, re-join in-game companions from ME1. Weapon-upgrade system re-introduced (absent in ME2, present in ME1).
  • Cons: SPOILERS FOLLOW: (1) ENDING - Claims made by Bioware developers that promise that all the main choices made in ME1 + ME2 make a difference all prove to be hollow. 3 color-coded endings are very similar to each other, apparent plot-holes present that defy logic explained in the previous games and player is not given significantly alternate options in the ending. Can potentially erode replayability value across entire series. (2) MULTIPLAYER To get the "best" ending, yo...

Great Trilogy.... Until the Last Hour or So

ikantspel, Amazon
10 March 2012
  • Summary: Be warned, this review contains some spoilers so read at your own risk. This is also a bit long winded; I apologize but, as a fan, I invested quite a bit of time in the series. Time for me to give back what they took from me. My Real Rating: 4.5/5 until the last hour or so, at which it becomes 2/5 Game reviews can often be subjective so this review is coming from someone primarily with an RPG background who, in terms of game play, enjoyed the first game better than the...
