Like New is a Farce

Chance Delafosse, Amazon

  • Summary: I ordered this game through Five Star Gaming and they gave me all the stuff with it. Problem is the downloadable content had already been used, so that was awesome. I mean who really buys the Collector's Edition for the downloadable content?! So good luck to anybody trying to find this New.

too bad, suckers

George E., Newegg

  • Summary: The 6 year-old mentioned? My neighbor's kid, who breezed through the game over the course of a weekend and said I could have it. I gave her dad a 6-pack as compensation. It's time to face the fact that Bioware's peak was more than 10 years ago and their decline only accelerated when they sold out to EA. If you paid money for this tripe, get therapy.
  • Pros: A couple of well-written characters, as per usual for Bioware. Not much else.
  • Cons: The transformation of Bioware into a hollow shell of its former self is complete. It's not just the ending that sucks; BW couldn't write a consistent plot if they had Shakespeare on staff. The gameplay is so mindless and trivial that a 6 year-old can master it. It's very clear they understand that there are many stupid people in the world and that they can make more money selling them a mediocre game than making a good game for less profit.

  • Summary: Imagine buying a new car. Imagine when you've bought the car and hopped into the driver's seat that you suddenly realize it's missing the rear view mirror and floor mats and a half dozen other standard items. Now you have an idea of how Day 1 Down Loadable Content works. Now imagine watching the original Star Wars trilogy in real time, let's say five years waiting from beginning to end, only in Return of the Jedi ends at the point where the fleets are attacking the Death...

Fumbled the ending

Daniel B., Newegg
22 March 2012
  • Summary: They may change the ending with DLC, like with Fallout 3. I wouldn't get my hopes up. I've written this game off and plan to sell/return it before it devalues further.
  • Pros: Expect cameos, familiar faces, and emotional scenes if you've played the previous two games. Great story until...
  • Cons: ...they drop the ball at the end, rendering all your previous ME games' choices null and void with an utterly horrible ending that could not possibly come from anyone with any familiarity with the Mass Effect series.

Don't buy it for anything more than $20.

  • Summary: I have played all three Mass Effect games and have loved them. The Mass Effect series is my second favorite series. However, this game is extremely disappointing. The game is great up until the last hour when you "take back" Earth. It was nothing as expected or advertised. I expected to have an ending that was a blend of ME1 and ME2. This means that I expected to have epic space and land battles where I had to make ethical decisions that impacted the game.

Dissapointing

Steven J., Newegg
17 March 2012
  • Pros: A good game destroyed by a cheap inadequte conclusion.
  • Cons: A big dissapointment. Bioware had the opportunity to end the trilogy with a bang but instead ended it with a fizzle. The potential for greatness was squandered by bioware.

Wait till BioWare fix it or drop the price to 30

ye9chen, Ebay
16 March 2012
  • Summary: The ending is terrible. Don't buy it until BioWare fix it with a (presumably) free DLC. If you have play ME1 and ME2, you go into the game with certain expectation the "type" of ending you would be getting. This is not the case at all. I would call it false advertisement. Plus the ending cause quite a few plot holes in the continuity of the story. And its very short. And all three endings are basically the same. That's all I can say without the spoilers.
