Summary: I really enjoyed the first mass effect story and game. This game, from the start, felt like Bioware wanted to just totally rip that apart. The story was full of railroading actions that my character never would have taken in the first place and former friends hating her for doing things she didn't even want to do. Even worse, the gameplay was limiting and repetitive. Have a problem? Hide behind a box! Want to try to do something other than hide behind a box?
Summary: I kinda liked Mass Effect 1, but the second was changed so much and dumbed down that its not the same game. Most of the game really did feel like an FPS on rails with some crude RPG features tacked on for me. Didn't like it.
Pros: Graphically the game has been improved a lot over the first. The game itself plays a lot better than the first as well. Can also carry over character data from first game if you have it. Introduces a few new neato mechanics like research, loyalty, and ship upgrades.
Cons: Focuses so much on being more of a FPS that the RPG aspect seems like an afterthought- some people think that's great, I didn't like it. Game design has also become extremely linear, so most missions are literaly running a one way path from start to finish. Game progression is also very restrictive where you are forced into story missions which is REALLY annoying if you're not prepared. ME2 also threw out different weapon brands in favor of purchasing powerups for spe...
Summary: i purchased this game based on all the positive reviews. it has received 9/10 from every major review site. even at the bargain purchase price, this game has been a let-down. it has tons of dialogue that is supposed to intrigue the player into the story line, but they are absolutely mind numbing and non-essential. many times regardless of the choices made, the game continues on the same path; simply pointless.
