When a games biggest claim to fame is that it has been prettied up and had the RPG elements dumbed down it doesn’t exactly look promising. But it’s not as if the whole game is a terrible mess, it’s quite the opposite actually. The game is fairly competent and tells a good story. It’s just that the game fails to deliver anything overly meaningful especially considering that the groundwork for this title was already laid thanks to Raven Software’s excellent work... Read more
Marvel Ultimate Alliance, released back in 2007, was the first game that successfully combined a large number of Marvel superheroes into one co-op adventure. Although it was far from perfect, it had a surprising amount of depth, and the combinations of different superheroes generally led to fun times. Two years later, we have Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, a sequel that attempts to both re-capture the same audience of the original and bring a new audience in, but somehow... Read more
With all this negativity, it probably sounds like I hated this game. The truth is, when it wasn't tempting me to throw my controller through the screen, I did enjoy it. Some players might get bored with the endless cycle of going through levels, beating bad guys, fighting a boss and repeating, but basically Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 is a solid beat 'em up. If you're a comic book fan you're bound to enjoy it even more, even if it falls short of the quality of previous... Read more
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 completely misses the ball when compared to its predecessor. The KISS-method that gets applied here makes the game an experience you prefer to quickly forget. Not one new element is worth mentioning and the button mashing brings boredom instead of entertainment. In short: how a game with a perfect script - the beautiful comics - becomes a thorn in the eye. Only for people with extremely low expectations! Read more
As a big fan of both games and comics, it seems as though a merging of the two would automatically score big points with me—and that's not too far from the truth. Favoring Marvel more than DC, the first Ultimate Alliance was a direct hit in my eyes thanks to solid multiplayer and a huge cast of recognizable characters from the house that Stan Lee built. It had its flaws to be sure, but it was one of the first superhero games that I felt really nailed the source... Read more
I really wanted to love this game. After playing Batman, I really really wanted to love this game. But...after putting about 6 hrs worth of work, I like it enough. MUA II is pretty much the same game we have played since X Men Legends for PS2. That's not to say that it's a bad thing but after 6 years and four games, the formula hasn't changed all that much. So this time around for all of you Marvel-heads that have kept up, the Civil War story line gets played out in this... Read more
The game was a lot of fun to play, but it gets marks off for laggy multiplayer (this was a problem in UA1 too, you'd think they'd it right in the sequel but they didn't), a story that's not very compelling and just not very good compared to the first, and a menu system that is somewhat clunky. The fusion powers are an improvement, as are most of the boss fights compared to UA1. Other than that, the game is just UA1 with better graphics (still nothing ground-breaking... Read more
As a fan of comics i am always looking for a great comic based game . To bad marvel can't get games right . Batman is the comic game to top. I Think the first Ultimate aliance is right behind batman when it comes to great comic games. Part 2 realy disapointed me , part 2 took ten steps backwards in my opinion . part 2 is kind of a drag . i also think for playing on ps3 and xbox that video game makers need to loose that over the top view double dragon style cheesy game... What new buyers may not know is that Activision has removed and canceled their DLC support as well as terminated (allegedly are moving) their online servers for this game. No. 1 the DLC. Activision released this statment: "The Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Downloadable Content was a limited time offer, expiring on December 31, 2009." What this means is that their DLC packs featuring Juggernaut, Psylocke, Magneto, Carnage, Black Panther, and Cable are no longer available.... Read more
its very fun to play, i didnt play the first one, so i said i will give it a try. i have play it with my cousin since then trying all the combinations posible on the game. the controls are easy to use, even with multiplayer. the bad is that from the first to the last mission you always do the same. and the camera sometimes annoys since it places on a box or an invisable wall or something but after you get over it you really enjoy this game.
