Summary: Yes, this game is realistic and can be very fun at times. I have had fun playing the game for a while as the controls were easier to use and the gameplay was more engaging. What was the big problem? Glitches everywhere you turn. The glitches are damning for the experience and can ruin it for good. Some examples include, your outfielder unable to catch a ball when standing directly under it, stalling and freezing, and terrible baserunning controls.
Summary: Major League Baseball is a disappointment for the following reason. The play mode requires you to use your numchuck and the button on the other hand to time your swing and location of the pitch. Unless you are psychic your freedom to swing and hit a pitch is more difficult than Major League Baseball 2K8. The announders are Steve Phillips and Gary Thorne. Not as light hearted as Joe Morgan and Jon Miller.
Summary: The game play is extremely good as well as the picture quality. The actual game part is all of what I expected and wanted, but more often than not I am forced to shut off my xbox manually because the game tends to lock on some loading screens, especially right after a game is played. I know it is for sure the MLB 2K9 disc as this is the only game I have problems with.
Summary: I have been having problems with the speed of this game from day 1. Technical support has tried to help me but basically they want me to eliminate everything in my computer and use it only to play. I run other games in my laptop without a problem. Finally after reinstalling the game one more time is running a little bit faster but not enough.
Summary: I'm not too much of a baseball fan but I enjoy pitching in videogames. Picking which spots to hit and with what pitch is the mostly why I like playing baseball games. This game makes it more realistic by having you play more as the pitcher than before. The catcher shows you where to aim and what to throw. All you do is point and try to hit it with accuracy. I say screw that! I want to play as the catcher not the pitcher.
Summary: My son loved the old 2005 baseball game and since he had just saved up his own money to get a better PC to a high-end HP, I thought I'd surprise him with this. Well, even through we had 6 gigs of memory, a Nvidia 256 meg video card and a very high-end Intel chip, the game played so slow it was impossible to play. When we finally upgraded the video card, it still was slow! As for the controls, I agree with everyone else, they are badly done.
Summary: MLB 2K9 is a huge lazy disappointment. There's really no nice way to say it. The game was just starting to find itself in 2K8, but they decided to strip away features and dumb the pitching and batting down for this one. Let's hope they figure out how to make a real baseball game next year. They should really take a lesson or three from MLB09 The Show. Now THAT is what a baseball game should play like.
Summary: This game is not great so much. Pros: I cannot think of one. Except for many the realism of the batting sound. Cons: To many glitches. Pitching, whenever I try to pitch, It pitches a different ball at times. Every time a ground ball comes and i throw to first base, it will say the runner is safe when he was out. [...
Summary: The controls a very confusing. They pretty much leave you to figure them out by yourself. I agree with other reviewers that the makers of this game just threw the PC version together at the last minute and didn't really care how it looked or came out. I've been playing for about a week and there are a bunch of glitches in the game. I've hit three or four inside the park homers because if the ball is on the ground against the outfield fence, no one can pick it up.
Summary: First off I'm a huge die hard baseball fan. And i have loved all of the 2k series....but this one not so much. First lets talk about the pitching. I liked the pitching allot actually i thought it was very fun to play as the pitcher. But there were some times were it didn't recognize my pitch and it got very frustrating, besides that the pitching was great. Now lets talk about the infield/outfield. It was completely horrible.
