Summary: This game is alot of fun. The pitching system is great, the throw meter is a nice challenging addition. The frame-rate is terrible before the patch, but it runs good after and when installed on the hard drive. Like 2k7, you need a good slider set for it to be fun and realistic, because the default ones are horrible. I must say I was disappointed in the downgraded graphics. I don't know how the both the graphics and framerate got worse, but somehow it happened.
Summary: Okay, bad game. If you have, let's say 2 outs and you're leading by like 7 in the last inning, somehow the computer wins. Some crazy way my guys make errors or they hit gappers. I play baseball, its my life. This game ruins it. Joe Moran and Jon Miller say the same things over and over and over and over again. Sometimes joe says the same things twice in a row, people run through each other, its a mess.
Summary: While sharing many similarities to MLB 2K7, MLB 2K8 appears to be a much more superior game. A few positives: No longer can you guess the pitch and know immediately that its going to be somewhere. The guess takes a little bit longer to show up in the hitting zone, thus making you pay a little bit more attention. The Minor leagues are much more in depth and many current minor leagues are represented, but not by name. You have to figure them out by their first intials.
Summary: I played a lot of MLB 2K7 last year and was really looking forward to 2K8. All of the negative reviews kept me from buying it at first but then I finally took a chance and bought it anyway. I really wanted to like it, but I'm definitely disappointed. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why but it's just not that good and not that fun to play. The visual screens in Career Mode are a little bit difficult on the eye too, which matters because you can spend hours in that mode.
Summary: First things first... rent this game prior to dropping over money on it. This game is like black candy liquorice... either you love it or you hate it. There are a lot of pros for this game, such as the in depth GM mode, as well as the insane amount of statistics. There are also a lot of cons for this game, such as the terrible base running controls and the constant framerate issues.
Summary: Hey guys this is a pretty OK game at best IMO. Some people think this game is very fun, but it is nothing compared to the days of MVP. The game is very fast and almost like an arcade game. The controls are a great idea and very fun. The pitching is new and very exciting. But the hitting is terrible along with base running which still find hard to command.
Summary: Once you grasp the controls, which I don't believe are as hard as some say, the game is quite enjoyable to play. The controls help to immerse you into the game of baseball unlike traditional baseball games. If it doesn't work for you, then you can still select the option of classic controls, so it's a win-win for everybody.
