  • Conclusion: If you find it for $5 and you aren’t worried about ever getting all the achievements in the game, I’d recommend it, but if you just wait a couple more months you’ll be able to get MLB2K9 for the same price, which is a far superior game. Hope you liked my review. Please consider leaving me a comment on how I can improve my review instead of voting negatively – I’m always open to change. Thanks!

Inside Hotwire 3D

  • Conclusion: What’s the bottom line for MLB 2K8? Well, it definitely has a strong set of creative visuals and incredible gameplay mechanics, but certainly a bit off in delivering smooth transitional in-game highlights. The best part of the game is the pitching system and the robust player and team customization features. It has good fielding controls and realistic animation. We love the TV-style presentations although they were jerky at times.

Game Over Online
21 April 2008
  • Excerpt: Some of the problems from last year are fixed. The solid menu system and pre-game animations are back, and the great stadium environments are all back. Unfortunately, for every positive element or great addition to the series this year, there is a drawback that simply cannot be looked past. Most of the problems are with the way the game moves along as far as the animations and graphics are concerned.

Game Over Online
21 April 2008
  • Excerpt: The MLB 2K series has been around for a few years now, and there have been mixed feelings about it since the beginning. The gameplay has generally been solid, albeit choppy in some cases. The presentation has been decent as well, but there really isn't much to compare the series with anymore, aside from Sony's MLB: The Show, which is only on the PlayStation consoles. This year, 2K looks to improve on last year's entry in both presentation and gameplay.

  • Conclusion: This is another solid entry from 2K Sports, and with the same group working on MLB 2K9 next year is looking good as well. The pitching is ground breaking and the rest is solid, with the exception of the frame rate issues. Definitely worth playing.
