Excerpt: Madden NFL 08 is one of the most disappointing football games I have played in a few years It has taken me quite some time to narrow down the main issue I have with this Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Playstation 2 video game (editor: other versions exist, but are not clumped into his awesome review). The football action does not feel like a real football game, and the Madden assistance for new comers is the opposite of helpful in most cases.
Excerpt: Date: 8/30/2007 Watching Madden develop on the Xbox 360 has been kind of like watching a young team come together over the course of a few seasons. Madden NFL 06 was sorely lacking in the features department, but the game looked so good in HD that you could tell the potential was there for something really great. Two iterations later we are finally starting to see a full feature set and can begin looking at Madden NFL 08 as a truly next-gen title.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: It's nice to know the incredible levels of pure evil that EA stoop to still exist, and this yearly update of an ancient series goes to show that the bastards haven't lost their touch. It serves as nothing more than a requiem for Sony's aged system, whilst the real new blood surges forward on the NEXT GEN consoles. It's a good game, but it doesn't come highly recommended. Oh, and EA aren't actually any of the things I said, that was merely for comic effect!!!
Summary: Feel what it's like to be a field general making key personnel decisions on both sides of the ball during the game's biggest moments in Madden NFL 08. Play to your team's strengths by reading your opponent's schemes and reacting to the action as soon as the ball is snapped.
Excerpt: While that may not comes as a shock to some of the “fans” of my previous reviews, you have to at least be surprised to hear me admit it. You see, I’ve been living a lie for the past six years and change here at Operation Sports. Now, in my defense, I didn’t realize I was a hypocrite poser till just recently.
Summary: It's taken two and a half years and three releases, but Madden is finally back to form. In Madden NFL 08 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, EA Tiburon has put together the most complete version of Madden seen on either console to date. The gameplay is tight, practically every old feature that had been previously missing is back in some form or another, and new additions have been made that significantly change how you play the game--for the better.
Pros: The new "weapons" feature is a terrific addition, A complex but fully manageable control scheme, Much deeper franchise mode with owner mode features, Excellent animations, Much more challenging game than last year
Cons: Fumbles pop up more than they ought to, Audio design is lackluster, Still no significant additions to the online play
Excerpt: American Football and Britons, there isn’t much love in that relationship. Those of us ignorant to the sport may think that it’s just rugby with guys in armour, some of us may have even watched the Super Bowl into the early hours of the morning just to see what the fuss was about, only to find a sixty minute game lasting around three hours. At least by the end of it you’ll have learnt the rules even if you didn’t find the stop/start play engaging.
