Excerpt: In over 1,000 years, he's seen people and kingdoms come and go and has had to find his own way to cope with being seemingly the only constant in a life where everything else is temporary. For much of his existence on this world, Kaim has alternated between traveling and serving as a mercenary — his life a nomadic existence where war is the only constant. No wonder he comes off as cold and antisocial.
Summary: Parents need to know that this fighting game is rated "Teen" instead of "Mature" as there is no blood. The player will use a sword or magic to defeat enemies in a turn-based fight mechanic, meaning the combat move is selected and the action plays out without gamer involvement. Enemies -- which are human, creatures, or spirits -- can be stabbed in a dramatic fashion, but it isn't as graphic as other Xbox 360 role-playing games such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion .
Excerpt: Much like Mistwalker’s previous effort, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey doesn’t push any role-playing game boundaries. However, it’s worth a place in any RPG fan’s collection due to the fresh twists it brings to the genre and its interesting protagonist. Kaim is immortal. He isn’t entirely sure why however, as the past thousand years of his memories have been wiped clean.
Conclusion: On the MS is being cheap side - the 4 disc game is in a 3 disc dvd box with #4 stuck in a paper sleeve where the manual also tucks in. Lame. All in all - I give it 8, with high marks for a compelling (so far) story, solid mechanics, seemingly deep characters, ease of use and beautiful graphics. Marks off for the been there done that feeling and not really pushing the genre forward.
